BetUS NCAA Football Betting Odds:  RUTGERS -3

Here are some of the college football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

  • RUT has won 14 of its last 17 games SU
  • RUT has played four of its last five games UNDER the total
  • RUT has covered seven of its last eight road games
  • RUT has won five of its last six road games SU
  • RUT has played seven of its last ten road games UNDER the total
  • LOU has lost 12 of its last 16 games SU
  • LOU has played six of its last nine games UNDER the total
  • LOU has won four of its last five home games SU

We'll say right off that Tim Brown, (not the former NFL great who you see in weekly BetFlix videos) the big play threat for Rutgers Scarlet Knights, is listed as doubtful for this game as he is nursing a bad ankle. If he doesn't make post, Brown will lose a chance at 1000 receiving yards, as he has 927 on the season. San San Te, the sophomore kicker, may have to be replaced as well as he has a bad right leg. Bad right legs are not good for kickers.

Rutgers suffered an unexpected and disappointing speed bump on its way to a 10-2 season last Saturday, as the Knights lost to the Syracuse Orange by a 31-13 score and displeased all its football betting supporters.

Everything went wrong for Rutgers in the game, as Tom Savage was intercepted twice and sacked nine times. Syracuse had over 400 yards of offense and held the ball for over 40 minutes. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

Actually, the running game, as carried out by the running backs themselves, was not all that bad. Joe Martinek led the way with ten rushes for 61 yards. Savage, a freshman who was inserted into the lineup a little earlier than expected, has been intercepted only four times all year, and that has been a factor in Rutgers' #1 ranking in turnover margin, which is +19. They're going to a bowl, but there is no doubt they'd like to end the regular season on a better note.

That could happen against a Louisville Cardinals team that may have lost its edge for good as South Florida roared past them last Saturday en route to a 12-point win after leading 16-14 at one point. Junior quarterback Adam Froman has been just so-so, and the running game has produced just 115 yards in the last two weeks. Louisville has scored three offensive touchdowns in the last three games, and they can't protect their passers (36 sacks allowed).

That offense has had to travel 18.3 yards for every point scored.

We believe Rutgers' defense will show up for this one, and there might be some bad news for Steve Kragthorpe, the former Tulsa coach who has not made things happen in Louisville. Lay the points with Rutgers, the three-point favorite in the BetUS NCAA football betting odds.
