Boise State Broncos (8-0 SU, 6-1 ATS) at Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (3-5 SU, 3-4 ATS)

Friday, November 6 - 8 PM ET

BetUS NCAA Betting Odds: BOISE STATE -21, Total 50

Here are some of the NCAA college football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

    • BSU has covered four of its last five road games
    • BSU has won its last ten road games SU
    • BSU has played four of its last five road games OVER the total
    • LT has won ten of its last 11 home games SU

    Also....

    • BSU has covered four of the last five meetings
    • BSU has won the last eight meetings SU
    • LT has covered four of the last five meetings as the home team

Boise State is rated #5 in the AP rankings and the coaches' poll, as well as #7 in the latest BCS rankings. The Broncos may not face another serious challenge until they get to their bowl game. The only question is, which teams ranked in front of them are going to lose, and what bowl game is Boise State going to find itself in?

Certainly it looks as if the Broncos are a team that is getting poll-conscious, and maybe that's because they seem to have lost some ground in the BCS, where they are behind Cincinnati and TCU. In these games, against Hawaii and San Jose State, Boise State outscored those opponents by a 99-16 margin, and outgained them 902-530. Both games were covering efforts in the NCAA betting odds.

Where does Louisiana Tech fit with that company? The Bulldogs have made themselves a "tough out" on the road lately, coming to within two points of Utah State and a single point against possibly bowl-bound Idaho. Since the beginning of last season, you'll notice that they have been very tough at home, winning against SEC entry Mississippi State, as well as Fresno State, and losing only against Nevada's high-powered offense (in a covering effort) last season. In fact, Louisiana Tech has covered six of the last seven times it has been a home underdog.

We know all about Kellen Moore, who is ranked right at the top of the NCAA's passing efficiency ratings. He produced three TD's through the air and one on the ground for the Broncos last week, and he's thrown just two interceptions on the season. He also has the luxury of not having to do everything by himself, because BSU has the 10th-ranked defense in the country, which is a big boon in the NCAA betting odds.

We don't want to disparage Boise State one bit for its ability to go out on the rod, as the team has won ten straight times as the visitor. You don't do that unless you have some mental toughness, as well as defensive potency. We don't want to discount that the Bulldogs can put forth a maximum effort in this one, and coach Derek Dooley may have the ability to "switch pitchers" if he wants to, with freshman Colby Cameron coming in relief of starting QB Ross Jenkins.

With Boise State, you are going to possibly be laying an inflated figure these days, and we will move in the direction of Louisiana Tech, the 21-point underdog in the NCAA betting odds.
