College Football Picks: (7) Boise State at Louisiana Tech
by Al Simmons
The undefeated Boise State Broncos will try to keep pace in BCS bowl race as they visit the 21 point underdog Louisiana Bulldogs this Friday at 8:00 pm ET at Joe Aillet Stadium.
College Football Betting Odds:
Boise State Broncos -21
Louisiana Bulldogs +21
O/U 50
Boise State arrives to this matchup after a couple of big blowouts wins against Hawaii and San Jose State in the past few weeks. Those wins didn’t just come courtesy of their power offense but in part from their defense as well.
“The coaches are harping on that in practice and turnovers have been a point of emphasis," said cornerback Kyle Wilson, who returned an interception 27 yards for a touchdown Saturday. "Any little detail the coaches focus on in practice, it shows up in the game. We definitely got challenged a couple of weeks ago, and we're stepping up to it."
Boise State is the number one total, passing and rushing defense in the Westerns Athletic conference. This could spell trouble for Louisiana QB Ross Jenkins who has 11 TD in the season with 4 interceptions. Jenkins is a QB more capable of managing a game than winning it.
RB Daniel Porter is not going to have an easy matchup either. Porter got injured in the loss against Idaho last week and to make it worst his numbers are no good from the past few weeks. He had just found the end zone 1 time in the last three matchups.
On the other side we have one of the most dynamic offensive units in all college football. QB Kellen Moore is a Heisman trophy candidate throwing 24 TD so far in the season with just 2 picks, spectacular.
College football betting fans should expect that Moore looks for Austin Pettis (9 TD) and Titus Young (8 TD) in the end zone a lot, as they face a smart defense that has more interception (9) that scored allows (8).
The Bulldogs will try to earn their 11th win in 12 home games since a 45-31 loss to the Broncos on 2007. Boise State on the other hand is looking for its eighth consecutive win over Louisiana Tech since 2001.
College football betting tip: if you’re betting on the game total remember it has gone OVER in 4 of Boise State's last 5 games on the road.
My pick: Boise State will cover the spread. Over.
