BetUS NCAA Football Odds: TCU -2.5

Here are some of the NCAA college football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* TCU has covered four of its last five games

* TCU has played four of its last six games UNDER the total

* TCU is 4-6-2 ATS in its last 12 road games

* TCU has won six of its last seven road games SU

* TCU has played four of its last six road games UNDER the total

* UTAH has won its last 10 games SU

* UTAH has won its last nine home games SU

Also....

* UTAH has won four of the last five meetings SU

* UTAH has covered three of the last four meetings

* The last three meetings have gone UNDER the total

It's worthwhile to take a moment or two to talk about TCU's stop unit. The Frogs are rated #1 in rushing defense, giving up just 1.4 yards a carry and 39 yards a game. Part of that resides in the fact that the pass rush is also the nation's best, producing 38 sacks already. TCU is second in total defense, third in scoring defense (allowing just 10.8 points a game), third in turnover margin (they are +15 on the year), and fourth in tackles for loss.

Yes, Oklahoma rambled for 436 yards (411 of them came from QB Sam Bradford, only 25 out of the rushing game). But while Utah's Brian Johnson is good, the injury-riddled sixth-year senior (14 TD's, 8 INT's) is no Bradford.

TCU has more than just defense to lean on. The Frogs have moved the ball on the ground with frequency (4.5 ypc, 224 yards a game). And they're doing it by committee. One member of that committee has been quarterback Andy Dalton, who has shaken off injuries to throw for nine TD's without an interception over the last three games.

Utah scored a win over Michigan in the season opener, but as the Wolverines have struggled to a 2-7 record that includes a defeat to Toledo, that isn't such a big result anymore. Meanwhile, TCU, which hasn't faced a grueling schedule either, at least came up huge in one game against a ranked, undefeated team (beating BYU by a 32-7 count).

There's some big revenge here for TCU, which has lost two years in a row to Utah. Dalton was picked off four times in last year's 27-20 home loss, and one of those interceptions was returned for a touchdowns. It's redemption time, and another unbeaten team bites the dust - this time the 8th-ranked team in the BCS. Go with TCU, the 2.5-point favorite in the BetUS NCAA college football sports betting odds.
