NCAAF Wagering - Auburn Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

One of the greatest if not the greatest rivalry in college football occurs this Saturday when the Auburn Tigers visit Alabama to take on the number one ranked Crimson Tide. Auburn vs. Alabama is every bit as big as Michigan versus Ohio State. Usually, sports betting fans would have to handicap this game with something at stake for the Auburn Tigers.

Not so this season. The Auburn Tigers, usually one of the top teams in the SEC Conference, have had a down year. They are 5 and 6 on the season straight-up and even worse against the BetUS online sportsbook wagering spread at 2 and 8. Auburn could turn things around in this game because they are facing their arch rivals. Of course, it would have been better for them to face the number one ranked team in the nation on their own field.

How good is Alabama? Well, they beat the LSU Fighting Tigers in overtime when LSU was ranked highly. They beat the heck out of the Georgia Bulldogs when their was talk about the Bulldogs making it to the BCS Championship game. So, yes, the Alabama Crimson Tide is a very good football team. For college football betting fans, it really doesn’t get any better than Alabama this season. The Tide is 11 and 0 straight-up and 8 and 3 against the BetUS online betting spread.

Here are the BetUS online betting odds for this game:

Auburn Tigers + 14 ½ - 110 + 450 O 41 - 110

Alabama Crimson Tide - 14 ½ - 110 - 600 U 41 - 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game:

The Auburn Tigers are 1 and 8 against the spread in their last 9 games overall.

The Under is 7 and 2 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are 5 and 2 against the spread in their last 7 games versus a team from the SEC Conference.

The Under is 5 and 1 in the Alabama Crimson Tide’s last 6 games on grass.

The BetUS online sportsbook under looks playable in this situation at 41 but I’m thinking to myself that this is a serious rivalry game and that even though the Tide is superior in almost every phase of the college football game, the Auburn Tigers could prove very difficult to beat in this game.

Auburn isn’t a terrible team. They’ve had a terrible season, by Auburn standards, but this is an SEC game where both teams are going to lay it all on the line. I just can’t believe that a team coached by Tommy Tubberville is going to let their arch rivals beat them into the ground.

I have to go with Auburn and the points in this one. I don’t think the Tigers have enough to beat the Crimson Tide straight-up, but beating the online betting spread of 14 ½ points is absolutely doable.

I’ll be making an online bet on the Auburn Tigers to beat the spread.
