Iowa Hawkeyes +10 Texas Longhorns -10

Both the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Texas Longhorns arrive at the Alamo Bowl riding postseason losing streaks. The Hawkeyes have dropped their last three, while the Longhorns have hardly fared better, losing their last two.

Following the spectacular upset of their win last year against Southern California in the Rose Bowl to claim the national championship, the 18th ranked Longhorns end a disappointing regular season (9-3) against the Hawkeyes (6-6) in the Alamo on December 30th.

Players to watch:

Quarterback Colt McCoy has been amazing, leading his squad with an all-time Texas high of 27 touchdowns. Jamaal Charles had 805 yards and seven touchdowns, while Selvin Young added 580 yards and six scores.

Iowa quarterback Drew Tate has achieved below expectations this season, throwing for 2,439 yards on 58% completions, with 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Moreover, Tate had four turnovers in Iowa’s final regular season game against Minnesota, as he fumbled once and threw three picks. The Hawkeyes have a pair of good junior running backs in Albert Young and Damian Sims, who combined for 1,353 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Prediction: The Hawkeyes aren’t in the top 25 nationally in any category and with their propensity to turn over the ball, the Longhorns should be the Real McCoys of this game!
