NCAA College Football - Clemson Tigers vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
by Mike Rose

ACC play is in full swing, and two teams hoping to be playing in the conference championship game in Tampa Bay hook up on ESPN’s Thursday Night Football telecast when the Clemson Tigers (3-2, 0-3 ATS) do battle with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (3-1, 2-2 ATS).
Though Wake Forest had covered the spread in their previous four meetings, Tigers bettors got the best of the action last year when they dismantled the Deacs 44-10. Clemson opened the year ranked in the Top-10, but the only one of these teams that can be found in the AP’s Top-25 now is Wake Forest, who chimes in at #21 coming into this week.
HC Tommy Bowden could be on the hot seat should the Tigers lose this game. They were off from CFB betting action last week, but are still probably licking their wounds from losing 20-17 to Maryland as 11-point home favorites two weeks ago.
QB Cullen Harper, who was projected to be a potential Heisman candidate has been anything but worthy of any postseason recognition. He is only averaging 189 passing yards per game and thrown just three touchdowns against five interceptions.
The defense ranks in the top half of the country in every major statistic, but those numbers are skewed based on the fact that they have played the Citadel and South Carolina State. In their three lined games this season, Clemson bettors have turned up on the short end of the college football betting line by an average of 15.0 points per game.
Much like the Tigers, Wake Forest is coming off of a bye week and is still smarting from an outright defeat as a double digit home favorite. The DemonDeacons were 3-0 heading into their non-conference clash with the Navy Midshipmen, but laid a huge egg, dropping a 24-17 decision as 17-point home favorites.
Even though they picked up a victory in Tallahassee against the Seminoles, Wake Forest bettors have dropped two of their L/3 betting decisions in large part because of the offense. No one on the Deacs has more than two touchdowns. They’re 115th in college football in rushing yards, averaging just 84.8 yards per game. QB Riley Skinner had been suitable before the Navy game, but his four picks cost the Deacs any hope of moving to 4-0 in their Week 6 betting affair.
Oddsmakers have installed the home team Demon Deacons as slim 3-point favorites in this ACC showdown.
The NCAAF betting trends hint towards a Wake Forest pointspread victory. They’re 8-3 ATS in their L/11 ACC clashes. Even though five of the L/6 games between these two teams have gone ‘over’ the ‘total’, consider adding the ‘under’ to your football betting card this week as well. Out of the L/14 games played in Winston-Salem, ten have gone ‘under’. ‘Under bettors’ have gone 11-4 in Clemson’s L/15 ACC games as well.Whether you prefer betting spreads, moneylines, or ‘totals’, BetUS has all of the football betting your heart desires.
