NCAA College Football Betting – ASU vs. Stanford
by Tim Furious

Dennis Erickson and Jim Harbaugh have a storied history in the game of football. They’ll write a new chapter tonight as Erickson leads ASU in to their own house to defend against the invading Stanford Cardinal. While the Sun Devils are ranked second in the Pac-10, and have a date with the Ohio State Buckeyes circled on the calendar, they can’t overlook a Stanford team that would love nothing more than to the upset specialist of the college football.
ASU Offense vs. Stanford Defense
Arizona State is powered by the ridiculous arm of Rudy Carpenter, who had 388 yards and a touchdown on 78.6 percent passing last week. His main receiving threats are Kerry Taylor and Michael Jones, who combined for 255 receiving yards on 10 receptions and one touchdown.
Stanford allowed 404 yards receiving against Oregon State, and was virtually picked apart by two guys who totaled 25 receptions for 308 yards. Rudy
Carpenter must be licking his chops at this matchup on the pass.
The rushing defense is much stronger, but ASU is a pass-first team that only uses their rushing attack to temper defenses and open up room for Carpenter to throw.
ASU’s Carpenter is a mistake prone quarterback that can crumble under pressure. He’s one year removed from a 10 interception season in 2007, and he can reward his betting investors much like he did last year. ASU has the type of offense that is easy to have faith in.
Stanford Offense vs. ASU Defense
The Sun Devils allowed 139 yards on the ground against Northern Arizona, and Stanford is a team that tries to control the pace of the game by rolling out an army of rushers. Toby Gerhart ran for 147 yards on 19 attempts and two touchdowns and is complimented by Anthony Kimble, who received 18 attempts.
If Stanford can wear down ASU’s under-sized defense, it will frustrate the home crowd and ASU enough to open up chances in the passing game. Stanford notched 36.0 points last weekend and had 91 precise yards through the air on 10-of-17 completions. The ground game alone is enough to take this game in the UNDER.
NCAA Football Betting Trends
-Stanford is 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games
-Stanford is 4-2 ATS in their last 6 road games
-the total has gone UNDER in 5 of 5 games on the road
-ASU is 11-3 SU in their last 14 games
-ASU is 3-6 ATS in their last 9 games when playing Stanford
Final Verdict
ASU has everything riding on this game, while Stanford has nothing to lose but the game itself. If ASU loses to the unranked Cardinals, then the game against Ohio State won’t do a damn thing unless we see a string of upsets like we did last season.
I love Stanford’s ability to control this game on the ground, while keeping it tight and low scoring. Bet on Stanford Cardinals and they will reward you tonight in the UNDER.
