College Football Betting Insider - Conference USA Week 2 Power Poll

Conference USA narrowly avoided several disasters to FCS opponents last week, but how well did their teams fare against fellow FBS opponents against the football betting lines? Find out right here with BetUS.com!

1: UAB Blazers (1-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) - Rice had one of the most explosive offenses in the country last year, but UAB was the offense that looked unstoppable when the two teams met last week. QB Joe Webb did absolutely everything that Blazers’ bettors could’ve asked for. He threw for 221 yards with two touchdowns on 12 of 15 passing, while also running the ball 20 times for 194 yards and two more scores. Webb may be all that UAB has this season, but boy, will he be fun to watch!

Up Next: Home vs. SMU

2: Tulsa Golden Hurricane (1-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) - Tulsa kicked off the ’09 season in style by blowing away Tulane 37-13. The fun n’ gun offense wasn’t quite as efficient as it was last season, but there’s no shame in putting up 412 yards of offense and 37 points. QB GJ Kinne had a strong debut, going 15/20 for 211 yards and a score to go with his 77 rushing yards in the victory.

Up Next: Away @ New Mexico

3: Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (0-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) - Though not all of the C-USA teams fared so well against FCS foes, the Golden Eagles did their job, rolling all over Alcorn State in their 52-0 victory. Only the defending champion Florida Gators had more yards than Southern Miss did in its win. The Eagles dropped a whopping 631 yards of offense, including 398 on the ground.

Up Next: Home vs. UCF

4: Houston Cougars (0-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) - QB Case Keenum threw for 5,013 yards and 44 TDs last season, and he got off to a great start in ’09 against Northwestern State. The junior threw for 359 yards and four scores in the Cougs’ 55-7 ‘W’. Expect to see a good ol’ fashion Wild West type of shootout next week in Stillwater.

Up Next: Away @ Oklahoma State

5: Memphis Tigers (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU) - Memphis tried its best to hang with the Runnin’ Rebels, but thanks to a lopsided 28-7 4 th quarter, the Tigers failed to cover a spread that was well within their reach. The defense had an impressive showing in spite of the fact that it allowed 45 points, as it held QB Jevan Snead to 175 passing yards and intercepted him twice.

Up Next: Away @ Middle Tennessee State

6: SMU Mustangs (0-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) - HC June Jones has to wonder whether leaving Hawaii was the right call. His Mustangs struggled mightily against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday. The defense allowed 460 yards, and if not for a 17-point 4 th quarter rally, SMU would’ve suffered a very embarrassing defeat.

Up Next: Away @ UAB

And the rest…

7: East Carolina Pirates (0-0 ATS, 1-0 SU)

8: UTEP Miners (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU)

9: Tulane Green Wave (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU)

10: Marshall Thundering Herd (0-1 ATS, 1-0 SU)

11: Rice Owls (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU)

12: UCF Knights (0-0 ATS, 1-0 SU)
