Even if the Oregon State Beavers win this one, some will wonder if it will be the biggest win of the season. I, and many others, will say this because it was the Beavers who snapped a 27-game Pac-10 winning streak by defeating the then 3rd-ranked USC Trojans 33-31 October 28th in Cornvallis, OR.
BCS Bowl Games
Mike Riley coaches this 9-4 squad that sits ranked 22nd in the BCS poll and won eight out of their last nine after people starting calling for Riley’s head on a platter. Oh, by the way, they play the Missouri Tigers in the Sun Bowl game at El Paso, TX on the 29th of December.
The Tigers come in ranked 39th on the BCS and sport an 8-4 record. The Gary Pinkel-led Tigers were 7-1 this season before they ran in trouble against teams like Oklahoma and Nebraska.
The Beavers’ rely on RB Yvenson Bernard and WR Sammie Stroughter to get the job done. The back had 1210 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground while the wideout had 1206 yards and a nice 18.3 yards per reception. QB Matt Moore has gone six consecutive games without throwing an interception, but we probably just jinxed all that.
Missouri has one of only two quarterbacks in the nation to pass for 3000 yards and rush for 300 in Chase Daniel. The Beavers will be chasing him all over the field on this one. He completed 64% of his passes and had 26 touchdowns against only 10 interceptions.
The Tigers come in showing impressive balance, with five players having scored four or more TDs and they also have a couple of mean cats on defense in MLB Dedrick Harrington and OLB Marcus Bacon.
