Tip-off: Cincinnati vs. Maryland at 7:00 pm EST and Pitt vs. Texas at 10:15 pm EST

The Cincinnati Bearcats, now sporting one of the top college football teams in the nation, are an undefeated basketball team coming off of a victory against a ranked opponent in the Maui Invitational.

The Bearcats were sensational in their victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores, and now take on a top ACC team in the Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday night. The Bearcats will need to dominate inside once again to beat Maryland.

In the night’s other big game, the Texas Longhorns, fresh off of a pasting of the Iowa Hawkeyes, hit the court against the undefeated Pittsburgh Panthers. The #3 ranked Longhorns will have to play off of zero days of rest but so will Pitt.

Let’s analyze both games.

#22 Maryland Terrapins vs. Cincinnati Bearcats

Tip-off: 7:00 pm EST

BetUS NCAAB Odds: Maryland +3 ½

Analysis: The 6’ 9” Yancey Gates was absolutely sensational in the Bearcats victory over Vanderbilt. Gates put up 16 points and 10 rebounds and dominated the inside. When Yates isn’t dominating, Cincy turns to 6’ 6” forward Rashad Bishop who leads the team in scoring with a 12 point average. What it means is that the Bearcats front line determines the outcome of their games. It’s been 3 victories so far for Cincinnati. So, something is definitely working with this team.

Maryland is a traditionally tough ACC team. They aren’t Duke or North Carolina, but they do have arguably the top player in the ACC in guard Greivis Vasquez. What’s scary about Maryland is that so far this season hasn’t dominated in the scoring category, he hasn’t put up double figures yet, but the Terps are undefeated. That’s a nice thing to have for Maryland. Your best player can rack up assists because your finishers are so good at, well, finishing.

Then, if things turn sour for you, your best player can light up the scoreboard. Not only does it make Maryland the pick in this game but a likely upset candidate in the ACC Conference.

Pick: Maryland Terrapins

Pittsburgh Panthers vs. #3 Texas Longhorns

Tip-off: 10:15 pm EST

BetUS NCAAB Odds: Texas -7 ½

Analysis: We all know how good Texas is. After spanking Iowa 85 to 60 as 15 point favorites on the road, the Longhorns take on a Big East power house in the Pitt Panthers.

The only real question is whether or not the Longhorns, who are vastly superior to Pitt this season, are too tired to cover the 7 ½ points in the NCAAB sportsbook. Texas is easily one of the top teams in the nation. Nothing they have done so far should keep bettors from believing that, but it feels like the Longhorns have been playing non stop since the season started.

Will Texas’s superior front line finally slow down against a very good Pitt team? Nope. The reason is simple. Pitt’s game revolves around the guard play of Ashton Gibbs and Travon Woodall. Unless Gibbs, who averages 17 points a game, and Woodall produce, then Pitt could be in trouble.

The undefeated Panthers face a very, very good team tonight. Texas is 3 and 0 against the spread in their 3 games so far this season. They should make it 4 in a row against Pitt because the Panthers’ back court just isn’t going to provide enough to counter attack Texas’s superior front court.

Texas rolls again.

Pick: Texas Longhorns
