NCAA B Betting – Duke Blue Devils vs. Purdue Boilermakers

by Mike Rose

College basketball bettors get to sink their teeth into a wonderful sports betting match-up this evening in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge when the Duke Blue Devils (7-0, 4-3 ATS) invade Mackey Arena to hoop it up against the (5-1, 3-3 ATS) Purdue Boilermakers.

BetUS Sportsbook currently has the Boilermakers installed as short two-point home favorites with a game ‘total’ of 147 points.

Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s Blue Devils come into tonight’s game off a tournament win in the 2K Sports Classic, and most recently, handed both Montana and Duquesne with relative ease at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Junior forward Kyle Singler leads the team in scoring ripping the twine for close to 17 PPG, and he also averages a shade over seven rebounds per game. The Blue Devils boast four guys that average double-digits in scoring per game, but they also get valuable minutes from veteran players Lance Thomas and Greg Paulus off the bench.

Duke has never lost in the ACC/B10 challenge winning all nine of its scheduled games to help the ACC win this yearly conference clash every year since it’s inception back in 1998. That said; this will be the Blue Devils toughest opponent to date in a venue that few go into and win. All but one of Duke’s victories has been by double-digits this season.

Purdue is coming off a disappointing defeat in the championship game of the NIT season tip-off against Oklahoma, but that’s not to say it didn’t compete. The overtime loss saw the Sooners go to the free throw line 41 more times than the Boilers, yet Purdue only lost by five. Guard E’Twaun Moore put forth a monster of a game totaling 22 points in all, but sophomore superstar Robbie Hummel was held in check racking up five personal fouls while trying to guard Oklahoma big man Blake Griffin.

Head Coach Matt Painter’s club will have its hands full tonight, but they should be able to bounce back from their disappointing loss over the weekend by feeding off its rabid home court advantage. After dropping back-to-back games to Wofford and Iowa State last season, Purdue rattled off 10 straight victories and went 7-3 ATS for its college basketball betting backers.

Purdue owns a 4-1 lead over Duke in the all-time series between these programs, and most recently upended the Dukies by a 76-68 final count as nine-point underdogs in the 2003 Great Alaska Shootout.

The current college basketball betting trends tell us that Duke is a perfect 4-0 ATS the L/4 times its faced a Big 10 opponent, and 8-2 SU its L/10 road games. Purdue counters with an impressive 9-4-1 ATS mark against the L/14 +.500 teams its faced, and it’s 10-4 ATS the L/14 times its welcomed an opponent into Mackey Arena.

‘Total’ players take note: The over is 6-1 ATS in Duke’s L/7 road games, and 6-1 ATS in its L/7 road games against opponents with a +.500 home mark. The over is 7-3 ATS in the Boilermakers L/10 non-conference games, and 4-1 ATS in their L/5 games following a SU loss.

Will the Blue Devils solve the mystery that has been the Purdue Boilermakers in Mackey Arena, or will HC Painter’s crew build upon its 10-game home winning streak? Once you think you’ve figured it out, login to your BetUS Sportsbook account and grab yourself some action in what’s certain to be a whale of a sports betting affair!
