This is a rematch of the NCAA championship game from 2008, where the Jayhawks mounted the late comeback to overcome John Calipari and the Tigers. Kansas lost a load of talent from that particular team, and had to retool with young players, as well a couple of holdovers who were not as big a part of the championship team as others. The Jayhawks went 27-8 and went to the Sweet 16, where they lost to Michigan State.

Now they are loaded. Sherron Collins emerged as the team leader last season, and he is ready to assume the level of All-American. The 5'11" guard averaged 19 points a game, and he was joined by Cole Aldrich, the 6'11" center who was a "can't miss" prospect coming out of high school, and finally showed why as a sophomore, averaging eleven rebounds and 2.7 blocks, and hitting almost 60% of his shots.

The Morris brothers - Marcus and Markieff - provide a lot of beef up front. Tyshaun Taylor showed flashes of brilliance. With Brady Morningstar, Tyrel Reed and Mario little, along with incoming freshmen such as Xavier Henry and Thomas Robinson, KU is simply loaded. It is hard to fashion an argument that Bill Self's team won't be in the Final Four.

Henry is the guy to watch. Considered among the top ten recruits in the country, he exploded in his first NCAA game, hitting five three-pointers and finishing with 27 points against Hofstra.

Memphis faces some potential problems, as Calipari followed the money and went off to Kentucky. He was replaced with 31-year old Josh Pastner, who is known as a very good recruiter. He better be, because the Tigers lost four great players, including one-and-done point guard Tyreke Evans.

In place of Evans is Elliot Williams, who transferred from Duke and scored 19 points in a win over Jackson State. There are obviously a lot of athletes still on board, but not many with big-game experience. Antonio Anderson's defensive play is going to be missed, for sure.

Memphis is used to playing things at a fast pace, but when they line up against Kansas, they have to deal with a team that does that kind of thing at a higher level. There is too much depth on the Kansas side, and because of this we think they can pull away. We'll lay the points with the Jayhawks, the 12.5-point favorite in the BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds.
