The No. 18 Connecticut Huskies were handed their first loss of the year last Saturday by West Virginia 81-71, while dropping the cash as a small favorite. Connecticut bounced back on Tuesday, Jan. 2 with a 69-50 cover victory over South Florida.
On the year, the Huskies are 6-2 ATS (against the spread) and now face the No. 14 LSU Tigers on Saturday at 9:00pm EST. The Huskies are 5-1 ATS in their last six non-conference games, and they are 7-2 ATS in their last nine vs. Southwestern.
Last year, Connecticut beat LSU 67-66. Another victory is in store for UCONN, because the Huskies are very talented and will improve and grow more prepared at a rapid rate as the year progresses.
The Huskies are inexperienced, as they are one of the youngest teams in the nation, but they have been getting the job done all year SU (straight up) and ATS. UCONN is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 road games, so home cookin' most likely won't help the Tigers in this one.
Weekend play has not been kind to the Tigers' investors, as they are a money-shredding 1-12 ATS in their last 13 Saturday games. As well, the Tigers are just 1-4 ATS in their last five games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.
UCONN will attempt to play an up-tempo type game, and LSU will try to grind it out. It will be a very competitive game; however, the Huskies take the cash in this one.
