College Hoops Pittsburgh vs Georgetown

The undefeated and third ranked Pittsburgh Panthers travel to Washington D.C. to take on the eighth ranked Georgetown Hoyas in a Big East showdown that should have online betting fans giddy. The Hoyas are sort of a surprise to college basketball betting fans this season after garnering a 10 and 1 straight-up record and a 5 and 2 record against the spread. Their record against the BetUS online wagering spread includes a terrific 74 to 63 victory over the Connecticut Huskies in their last game. The Hoyas were 7 point underdogs in that game but won straight-up by 11 points. That has to make basketball betting fans sit up and take notice.

The Pitt Panthers are undefeated but their record against the BetUS online betting spread has been anything but spectacular at 4-3-1. One of the reasons the Panthers are undefeated is because they’ve been playing cream puffs. Washington State and Texas Tech are okay but they aren’t the Georgetown Hoyas. This will be the first ranked team that the Panthers have faced this season.

The Georgetown Hoyas are 4 and 0 against the spread in their last 4 games overall.

The Georgetown Hoyas are 4 and 13 against the spread in their last 17 games after an against the spread victory.

The Pittsburgh Panthers are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last 6 road games.

The Pittsburgh Panthers are 4 and 0 against the spread in their last 4 games after an against the spread loss.

My hope is that the BetUS odds makers set the against the spread line at no more than 4 points on Saturday morning.

Even though I’ve listed my personal online betting odds at 2 ½ points, I would bet the Georgetown Hoyas to cover the spread at 4 points or less.

The reason is that the Hoyas have been battle tested while the Panthers have not. I see Pittsburgh playing a fantastic game in this but this is the Big East where home court means a lot.

Georgetown might not be the better team come March but they are the better team right now early in January of 2009. They will protect their home court by covering against a BetUS online betting spread of 4 points or less.

That’s the online bet that I will be making. If the BetUS ncaab odds makers are kind enough to make the Hoyas no more than a 4 point favorite in this game, then I will be making an online basketball bet on the Georgetown Hoyas to cover the spread.
