Georgia Tech made a gallant comeback after blowing a huge lead against Wake Forest last Saturday, winning the game in overtime. But there was a disappointment against Virginia on Monday night, dropping a two-point decision at home despite being able to hold Sean Singletary below 20 points. That game marked the fifth home conference loss in the last seven for the Yellow Jackets, who are at this point way out of the post-season picture unless they can rally and win the ACC tournament, which would be a massive upset.
Clemson is such a hot-and-cold team that it can shoot 31% against Florida State in one game, then come back for a 51% showing against Miami in the next. But at least the Tigers are working on a little bit of momentum, winning back-to-back games against Miami and Maryland, and has achieved 20 wins for the season. Freshman Terrence Oglesby has perked up with 6-of-13 from beyond the arc over the last two games, and James Mays, a possible first-round NBA draft choice who has been quiet for the last month, chipped in 20 points and nine rebounds in the Maryland game.
Clemson has compiled a +5 rebound margin on the road, and has been able to keep up its offensive production away from home as well (79 ppg). Clemson may not be good enough to string a bunch of post-season wins together, but they can win here. And we will lay the points with the Tigers, the two-point favorite in the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds.
