Missouri Valley Conference Power Poll

The Bluejays reign supreme in the MVC sports betting Power Poll for the third week in a row, and the following lists how the rest of the conference stacks up as we head into the conference tournament.

1: Creighton Bluejays (14-9 ATS, 23-6 SU) (9-7 ATS, 12-4 SU in MVC) (LW: 1) The Bluejays had an impressive week last week, beating a pesky Evansville squad 89-84, and following that up with a huge Bracket Buster win over George Mason. Creighton hasn’t lost a game since January 24th, and look to be in a strong position to go dancing next month. It is 6-1 ATS in its L/7 overall and 5-1 ATS in its L/6 on the road; that’s bad news for the Bears.

This Week: Away @ Missouri State, Home vs. Illinois State

2: Bradley Braves (14-10 ATS, 17-12 SU) (11-5 ATS, 9-7 SU in MVC) (LW: 3) Keep an eye out for the Braves as a potential team to spoil the party for the big boys in the Valley. Bradley is heating up at the right time, as it has won three straight games both SU and ATS. Though the regular season conference crown is out of the question, there’s still a chance for the Braves to swipe one of the Top-4 slots in the conference tourney; both of this week’s games are critical.

This Week: Away @ Evansville, Home vs. Drake

3: Illinois State Redbirds (13-11 ATS, 22-6 SU) (8-8 ATS, 11-5 SU in MVC) (LW: 3) It’s starting to look like the Missouri Valley is going to be a one-bid league if Creighton takes down the conference crown. ISU had a chance to take a huge step towards securing a ticket to the dance, but blew it by getting blown away at Niagara to kick off Bracket Busters Weekend last Friday night. Wins over the two other best teams in the conference would help, but it’s still probably going to take an appearance in the MVC final to keep the Redbirds on the map.

This Week: Home vs. Northern Iowa, Away @ Creighton

4: Evansville Purple Aces (12-10-1 ATS, 16-11 SU) (7-8-1 ATS, 7-9 SU in MVC) (LW: 4) The Aces represented themselves well in Creighton last week, as they led the Bluejays on a number of occasions but eventually fell by five-points. It was more than enough to cover the sports betting line. The Redhawks had no chance in Evansville on Bracket Buster weekend. The three best teams in the conference have already marched into Evansville and stolen victories. Could Bradley be next?

This Week: Home vs. Bradley, Away @ Northern Iowa

5: Northern Iowa Panthers (12-12 ATS, 18-10 SU) (10-6 ATS, 12-4 SU in MVC) (LW: 5) Though Northern Iowa got incredibly luck to cover the seven-point spread in Siena on Saturday, things are really starting to look poor for the Panthers chances of dancing. Twenty wins will probably be good enough for an NIT bid, but for a team that’s in first place in one of the strong mid-major conferences in America, UNI has lost four out of five and looks to be limping towards the finish line.

This Week: Away @ Illinois State, Home vs. Evansville

6: Drake Bulldogs (12-12 ATS, 17-11 SU) (7-9 ATS, 8-8 SU in MVC) (LW: 8) Was last week the fire that needed to be lit for Drake to give its best shot at defending its conference crown? Wins over Northern Iowa and Austin Peay were huge for the psyche of a struggling Bulldogs club which had gone just 2-8 SU in their previous ten. With a pair of wins this week, at least an NIT bid would become salvageable in an otherwise disappointing season.

This Week: Home vs. Southern Illinois, Away @ Bradley

7: Wichita State Shockers (11-11 ATS, 14-14 SU) (6-10 ATS, 7-9 SU in MVC) (LW: 6) Since January 17th, the Shockers have been an incredibly solid squad. They’re 8-3 SU, with acceptable losses acceptable at Bradley, at Evansville, and at Illinois State. With a pair of iffy opponents on the slate this week, expect to see Wichita State end its MVC slate at .500 and be a team to watch for an early upset in the conference tournament.

This Week: Home vs. Indiana State, Away @ Southern Illinois

8: Southern Illinois Salukis (12-15 ATS, 11-17 SU) (8-8 ATS, 6-10 SU in MVC) (LW: 7) Though the recent struggles of the Salukis could have been attributed to a difficult schedule before this week, a home loss against Indiana State was unexpected and inexcusable. SIU is 0-4 SU and ATS in its L/4 overall, and hasn’t won a home game since January 29th. Maybe that will change in the regular season finale, as teams jockey for position at the bottom of the conference.

This Week: Away @ Drake, Home vs. Wichita State

9: Indiana State Sycamores (12-14 ATS, 9-19 SU) (9-7 ATS, 6-10 SU in MVC) (LW: 9) Every conference has a team like Indiana State that no one wants to play. The Sycamores are going to have to take the long road through the MVC Tournament, but they’ve got five straight wins to build on after knocking off both Southern Illinois and Toledo last week. Can they carry their momentum into this week?

This Week: Away @ Wichita State, Home vs. Missouri State

10: Missouri State Bears (8-17-1 ATS, 11-17 SU) (4-11-1 ATS, 3-13 SU in MVC) (LW: 10) Looks like Bracket Buster came at the right time for the Bears. They knocked off Tennessee-Martin 79-77 in a rather odd match-up, and will get a chance to make a statement heading into the MVC Tournament against Creighton even though they’ve already locked down the #10 seed in the tournament.

This Week: Home vs. Creighton, Away @ Indiana State
