NCAA Basketball Betting Preview - Power in the ACC and Big East

by D.S. Williamson

NCAA Basketball is just around the corner! It’s time for BetUS Sportsbook online betting fans to start thinking about which conferences and which teams are going to lead to online betting profits.

It has become more difficult in recent years to make profits making online bets on college basketball. A lot of that has to do with the turnover in recent years regarding players. For instance, not only did O.J. Mayo leave the USC Trojans after one season, but Michael Beasley left the Kansas State Wildcats and Kevin Love left the UCLA Bruins.

There is no such thing as making an online wager on a college basketball team with a junior or senior leading squad.

With so many changes going on year after year in college basketball, it’s important to take a look at some of the power conferences and teams in those power conferences that BetUS online sportsbook wagering fans can key on once real college basketball betting begins.

Let’s get to it!

ACC Conference

The North Carolina Tar Heels should be the undisputed online betting key team this season. Without a doubt the Tar Heels are loaded - - again. The Tar Heels convinced last season’s player of the year, Tyler Hansborough, to return for his senior season. That’s incredible considering what I just wrote above. Forget it. Everything that online college basketball fans do this season should revolve around the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Duke Blue Devils will put up a good fight with sophomore Kyle Sigler returning. But they haven’t got a chance against a loaded UNC squad. I will look to make some online bets on the Blue Devils to cover, but last year this was a disappointing team against the BetUS online wagering spread. Beware the Blue Devils.

Big East Conference

Connecticut should return to the top of this conference. Without a doubt Jim Calhoun has a team this season with returning senior Jeff Adrien. With Adreien and Hasheem Thabeet returning to the fold and top prospect Kemba Walker returning, the Huskies should be the team that online betting fans key on this season from the Big East.

The Louisville Cardinals return strong. Terrence Williams, Earl Clark and Edgar Sosa all return. If Derrick Caracter returns back in shape and with a good attitude, this team could challenge the Huskies for top honors in the Big East.

Other teams in the Big East that could provide online wagering profits are Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and Marquette. All three teams return important players.

Big 12 Conference

Everything begins and ends with the NCAA defending champion Kansas Jayhawks, right? Well, no. As good as the Jayhawks will be this season, and I do expect them to lose no more than six games, they won’t be the top team for online college basketball betting fans to key online wagers on out of the Big 12.

That team will be the Texas Longhorns who were exceptional last year with D.J. Augustin at the point. They won’t have him back, but they do get Damion Jones back and this Turkish kid that they recruited, Dogus Balbay, has looked fantastic in the off season. The Longhorns are the team to watch for BetUS online sportsbook wagering fans.

Pac-10 Conference

No Kevin Love at UCLA. No O.J. Mayo at USC. What does it mean for last year’s top conference in college basketball? That the Arizona Wildcats have a terrific shot at being the top team in this conference. This is the only limb I’m going out on this early before the NCAAB season. I love the ‘Cats with Jordan Hill and Chase Budinger returning. Oh, don’t worry about the possible Lute Olsen NCAA recruiting violation. The guy’s 80 years old. The NCAA won’t hurt them too much.

After the Wildcats, I believe the Washington Huskies and Arizona State Sun Devils could be two teams for online sportsbook wagering fans to key in on. Both teams should be greatly improved.

The UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans will be good this year, but the online betting spreads might be too high when these two teams play some of the other teams in the Pac-10. That would make them bad online wagering propositions.

SEC Conference

The Kentucky Wildcats are back! Coach Billie Gillispie got these guys playing with fire towards the end of last season. Now, with a year under their belts, this team is going to be almost unbeatable in the weak SEC Conference. Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley are both terrific players.

The Florida Gators should be better as well with Nick Calathes returning. In fact online college basketball betting fans could make a killing this season concentrating on both the Wildcats and the Gators.

The Tennessee Volunteers will be good again and deserves some mentioning from an online sportsbook betting point-of-view, but after that this conference just isn’t very good.
