With the NBA’s regular season quickly coming to an end, with approximately 20 games remaining for each team, the NBA’s annual scoring race may go down to the wire between no less than three legitimate contenders for the title.

Here are the odds on some of the league’s elite players as well as the current NBA scoring leaders statistics, followed by my selection on who will actually win the award.

Odds to win the 2007 NBA scoring title

 

Carmelo Anthony +200
Anthony is the current scoring leader (29.9) and is one of the three players with the best chance to actually win the scoring title. With the Nuggets primed to finally get their act together, Melo could wind up with the title – and a deeper-than-expected playoff run.

Gilbert Arenas +150
Arenas certainly shoots enough to say in contention here. Another scoring outburst by “Agent Zero” (28.7) and he could undeniably win it.

Dwyane Wade +250
Wade has the average (28.8). Whether or not he comes back scoring at the same clip after dislocating his shoulder, he could have a chance. However, his shoulder is reason for caution.

Kobe Bryant +300
Kobe has no conscience and has never met a shot that he doesn’t like – or can’t make. Second in the league in scoring right now (29.2) Bryant will be right there until the very end.

Allen Iverson +1000
A.I. seems to be scoring slightly less and helping the Nuggets in other areas these days. Take “The Answer’s” teammate before you take him.

 

Michael Redd +1500
Another scoring spree by Redd could put him right back in contention, so don’t count him out just yet. Besides, the return if he does win, is spectacular.

Field +500
Betting the field is useless here. The scoring champion will undoubtedly be one of the aforementioned players.

My Pick: I’m going with Anthony here. The Nuggets are probably playing their best basketball since acquiring Allen Iverson and Anthony will continue doing what he does best – scoring – to help the Nuggets advance as far as they can in the postseason.
