NBA’s Coldest Teams Against The Spread
by Mike Rose

(RANK) (TEAM) (SU RECORD) (ATS RECORD) (ATS RECORD L/5 +$$)
1) Houston Rockets (21-14) (16-19 ATS) (1-4 ATS L/5 -$340): Houston finds itself back on this list after another dreadful week for NBA bettors that saw them go 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS. The lone cover came most recently against Atlanta where they fell 103-100 but covered as 5.5-point underdogs. That sports betting victory was just the first in their L/7 tries, and the waters still look choppy ahead with three road games scheduled to go this week against Philadelphia, Boston, and Oklahoma City before returning home to take on the NY Knicks. Still, this club currently holds the seventh seed in the Western Conference even though Shane Battier and T-Mac have only managed to play in half their games. Look for Houston’s ATS troubles to go the other way once this club’s 100% healthy as they look to be loaded on paper.
2) Cleveland Cavaliers (27-6) (23-10 ATS) (1-4 ATS L/5 -$340): It might look ridiculous to find the Cavs on this list considering their season long ATS success, but the Cavs have been stinking the joint up against the pointspread of late having won just twice in their L/7 overall games. They got all they could ask for from a depleted Washington club on Christmas Eve winning by just four as lofty 15.5 point home favorites, so it came as no surprise to some that they lost outright in Washington, 80-77, as nine-point chalks just 10 days later. That wasn’t the only game they dropped SU as favorites last week as Miami got the best of them 104-95 as 5.5-point home pups after falling by seven to them in Cleveland two days prior. Light schedule for Lebron and company this week who will host Charlotte before hosting Boston for the first time this season.
3) Chicago Bulls (14-20) (15-19 ATS) (1-4 ATS L/5 -$340): Think Chicago’s brass would like to rethink the firing of Scott Skiles after he immediately changed the Bucks fortunes around this season? I sure would if I was John Paxson, but then again I’m not, and he’s stuck with this ragtag roster being overlooked upon by the inexperienced Vinnie Del Negro. The Bulls managed one SU and ATS win last week against New Jersey, and proceeded to get pillaged and plundered by double-digits against its four other opponents with one of those teams being Minnesota. Save for the 2006 season, Chicago hasn’t experienced any type of success since the glory days of MJ and Pippen, and their fortunes don’t look to be changing anytime soon unless wholesale changes are made to the roster.
4) Indiana Pacers (12-22) (16-17-1 ATS) (2-3 ATS L/5 -$130): If there’s one thing this Indiana club can do, it’s score, but that hasn’t translated to many wins both SU and ATS since they surrender points faster than they score them. This club comes in ranked 28th out of 30 teams in terms of points allowed (105.8) and that’s the main reason why they find themselves 10-games under .500 heading into this week’s action. They’ll have to pick themselves up off the mat this week after getting trounced in Denver to play another four road games against the Suns, Lakers, Warriors, and Jazz before returning home to face Detroit. Indy’s a perfect 0-6 SU against Central Division opponents this season….
