Someone please slap some butter on the Portland Trail Blazers – because they are on a roll.
At the same time, maybe someone should call a shrink for the perplexing Utah Jazz, who has been mired in a stretch of mediocrity for nearly three weeks now.
The young Blazers, (17-12 SU, 18-11 ATS, 12-17 O/U), enter tonight’s contest looking for their 14th consecutive win and third over the Jazz during their current winning streak.
Portland’s latest win, a 97-72 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers Sunday night, illustrated Portland’s newfound commitment to defense under head coach Nate McMillan, as the Blazers held the mediocre Sixers to just nine points in the fourth quarter after entering the final period trailing 63-62.
The Utah Jazz, (16-16 SU, 14-18 ATS, 19-13 O/U)got off to a wonderful 13-5 start this season, but are a pitiful 3-11 since Dec. 4 wit two of those losses coming at the hands of the Blazers, 97-89 on Dec. 11 and 99-91 just three days later.
Utah enters tonight’s contest riding two consecutive losses, including a 104-98 loss to the Boston Celtics Saturday night.
The Blazers have been led by second-year players Brandon Roy, (19.2 ppg) and LaMarcus Aldridge (17.5 ppg, 7.4 rpg) while Utah all-star Carlos Boozer leads the team in scoring, (24.2 ppg) and rebounding, (11.5 rpg).

Analysis: This pick is an absolute no-brainer NBA bettors. While I like the Utah Jazz to win this game tonight and end Portland’s near-franchise breaking consecutive wins streak, I certainly don’t think Utah is going to win by the eight points it will take for them to cover the spread. Take the Blazers to cover the spread if nothing else.
