While the Phoenix Suns, (42-22 SU, 29-33-2 ATS, 37-27 O/U), are excited about the performance of newly acquired center Shaquille O’Neal in their last victory a 132-111 win over the lowly Memphis Grizzlies, the red-hot Golden State Warriors, (39-23 SU, 27-35 ATS, 36-24-2 O/U), have plans on showing the Suns exactly why the slow-footed O’Neal will be more of a hindrance that a helper by trying to run the Suns off the court tonight with their up-tempo style of play that has made them the highest scoring team in the league.
While many of the Suns now see optimism where others see mediocrity, two-time MVP Steve Nash cautions against getting too excited, knowing the transition to playing with O’Neal is still a work in progress.
"We have a lot of work to do," Nash said. "I don't think we should get too excited over it, but we are starting to see improvement. We are starting to see progress, and I think everyone's confidence is going to grow if we continue to grow like this."
The Warriors, who trail the Suns by just 1 1/2 games, realize they are in prime position to gain even more ground in the tough western conference.
"I've never been involved in something this tight in my career," Warriors point guard Baron Davis said. "This is just a tremendous time to be playing basketball. Every game is an opportunity to move up and see where we can finish."
The Warriors have won eight of their last ten games in the BetUS.com Sportsbook and three straight coming into this contest including a solid 117-106 win over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.
The Suns are 5-5 in their last ten games both, straight up and against the spread, while the Warrior have gone 6-4 against the spread in their last ten and have won three straight against the spread.
