The NBA Releases Its 2008 – 2009 Schedule
by BetUS Staff

With the 2008 Olympic Dream Team getting ready to battle the world’s best teams for some Olympic betting and bring home a gold medal for the United States, we have almost forgotten to check in the NBA odds and news! The NBA released its 2008 and 2009 schedule this morning so let’s get those online sports betting juices flowing for some b-ball talk.
Opening night is only 83 days away with the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers tipping the season off! It will be interesting to see how LeBron “King” James plays after spending the summer in China working towards Olympic gold.
The Cavaliers have been knocking on the door for some time. Is this the year that LeBron and the Cavs finally get through the door and win an NBA Championship? Or, will the Celtics big three of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett prove once again to be the dominant team in the Eastern Conference?
The game after the Cavs and the Celtics take the floor will be between the Portland Trailblazers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe, the U.S. Olympic team’s anointed defensive stopper, will not only begin his quest to bring an NBA Championship back to the city of Los Angeles but he will also begin his quest to win a second consecutive MVP Trophy.
For the Blazers, unveiling 2007’s number one draft pick, Greg Oden, who spent an entire year on the bench after having micro-surgery on his knee, will be the highlight of that first night.
From there, like every year, the NBA wagering gets wild and wacky!
The day after opening night doesn’t get any less interesting with the San Antonio Spurs taking on the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers battling the Los Angeles Clippers. The key with the Suns is watching out how they’re going to play now that Mike D’Antoni is no longer their coach. Will the Suns continue their running ways that were so successful during the Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire, Steve Nash days? Or, will the Suns revert to a more half-court type game now that Marion has been replaced by future Hall-of-Famer Shaquille O’Neal?
What about the Spurs whose three-headed championship dragon, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, have a year under their belts? The Los Angeles Clippers lost Elton Brand and Corey Maggette but picked up super point-guard Baron Davis. Will things change in Clipperland?
One of the most interesting games of the first week occurs on Oct. 30th when Chris Paul and the Hornets travel to Phoenix to take on Nash and the Suns. Has Paul arrived? Have the Hornets arrived? Is Chris Paul ready to become the number one point-guard in the NBA? He’ll have to get by Steve Nash to do it!
