Boston Celtics (42-12) vs. LA Clippers (19-34)

The underlying story of this game will be how jealous Sam Cassell is as he watched Boston tonight. The Clippers will host the C’s tonight, who are enduring a 1-3-1 ATS record over their past 5 games, while just recently snapping a three-game losing streak with a win over Portland. Can the good times keep rolling for Boston tonight in LA?

The Clippers are absurdly bad. It doesn’t help that Elton Brand has been out all season, but nobody has stepped up to take his place. To make matters worse, neither Sam Cassell nor Chris Kaman are at 100% health. Cassell has a sore wrist, while Kaman’s back is stiffening up on him. That doesn’t bode well for a team that only averages 94.7 points per game and allows 99.0.

While their perimeter defense can be decent at times, Ray Allen and The Truth will stretch the floor to much for the Clippers to handle. And if they bring more guys out to the arc to help out against the dynamic duo, well that leaves KG in the paint all alone against whatever poor soul has to cover him. The Clippers simply do not match up well against Boston in any way, shape or form.

Boston has gone 15-6 SU in their past 21 road games and the three-game abomination seems to be behind them. And, after all, they lost to three extremely good teams. The Clippers have won seven more games than the Celtics have lost. The only way that this team even comes close is if Corey Maggette and Cuttino Mobley go absolutely bananas. Maggette leads the team with 22.0 points per game, but he’ll have his hands full trying to handle Pierce and/or Allen on the defensive end.

The betting bandwagon can restock now that Boston has gotten over the hump with a definitive win over the young upstarts from Portland. Bet on their winning ways to keep on rolling as they trounce the Clippers. Sam Cassell may want to re-think his stance on staying on board with the Clippers after this game.
