The Los Angeles Lakers, (28-15 SU, 24-17-1 ATS, 21-21 O/U) got back to their winning ways by beating the New York Knicks 120-109 Tuesday night and cover as nine-point favorites after suffering through a three-game losing streak that represented a season-high for Los Angeles in this surprising season of theirs.
The Detroit Pistons, (32-13 SU, 27-17-1 ATS, 20-24-1 O/U) enter tonight’s matchup riding a three-game winning streak, but the Pistons have had their recent troubles as well, losing the three contests prior to their current three-game streak and failing to cover the spread in four of their last six contests.
The Lakers have struggled without young center Andrew Bynum and could be in for trouble against the Pistons as Kobe Bryant has struggled more so against Detroit than any other team in his illustrious career.
Bryant is averaging just 21.4 points per game in 20 regular-season contests against the Pistons and has been held below 20 points in three consecutive games against the Pistons.
Detroit beat the Indiana Pacers 110-104 Tuesday night but failed to cover as 7.-5-point favorites.
The Lakers are just 3-5-1 against the spread in their last nine games while the Pistons are a mediocre 4-6 against the spread in their last ten games.
Here’s a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my NBA Betting Free Picks.

The Under is 5-1 in Lakers last six after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
The Under is 8-0 in Pistons last eight after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

Analysis: While the Lakers have struggled both against the spread and straight up without Bynum – and the Pistons are one of the best defensive teams in the league, (90.5 ppg) I like the Lakers to cover the 7.5 –point spread with their excellent offense, (107.3 ppg).
