NASCAR Betting Online - Rollin' The Dice In Vegas, Shelby 427 Selections
On Sunday, the Sprint Cup series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Shelby 427, starting at 4:45pm EST. Sin City hosts only one Cup event each year, so when the circuit comes to town gamblers try their hand at betting on NASCAR, as racing fever spreads to the strip and becomes the star attraction. This is the one event that turns bettors of all types into NASCAR fans, as those looking to hit the jackpot turn to Sprint Cup's money-making odds to cash in.
But for the thousands who'll place their wagers on the strip, before heading to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to root on their drivers, are first-time investors in the sport and place their bets on the fly with little knowledge of NASCAR and-or who has the best chance of meeting Lady Luck on Sunday. The same goes for the thousands of online sports betting fans that haven't yet discovered the profitable BetUS NASCAR odds. So whether you're in Vegas, or betting elsewhere online as a newcomer to NASCAR wagering, here's three solid selections for newbie's and seasoned gurus alike.
Jeff Gordon (To Win: +700)—Gordon is way over due for a win, entering Sunday's race riding a 43-race winless streak. Matt Kenseth has dominated the headlines so far in 2009 by winning the season's first two events (first time accomplished since 1997), but Gordon has been nearly as, winning a 150 qualifying event in Daytona, running solid 13th in the Daytona 500 and finishing a strong second in Fontana.
He led 14 laps in the season-opening 500, but rain halted the race and Kenseth was declared the winner. Had it gone the distance, Gordon had the car to have contended for the win. And if he had a few more miles Sunday, he may of had the muscle to have run down Kenseth. It's clear the No. 24 team is far ahead of where it was this time last year, when Gordon had his first winless season since his 1993 rookie campaign. Leaving the four-time champion off your Vegas online NASCAR wagering BetUS ticket could prove costly.
Carl Edwards (To Win: +500)—It's been a quiet 2009 for Edwards so far. He got collected in the Earnhardt-Vickers garbage at Daytona while running in the top-five, but rebounded well at Fontana and spent most of race among the Top 10 to end last week with a stout seventh-place finish.
He's the defending champion at Las Vegas, and he'll be tough to as Edwards returns to an intermediate track. Edwards dominated intermediate tracks last season with five of his series-best nine victories coming on 1.5-mile configurations. This will be Edward's fifth Cup start at Vegas, where his victory there is accompanied by a top-five and two top-ten runs with a respectable 11.5 average of finish.
Mark Martin (Top 3: +550)—Martin could easily be dubbed Mr. Las Vegas, as the sentimental veteran fan favorite has ran well on the 1.5-mile track. In 11 career races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Martin has nine top-10 finishes. He has yet to come up aces, but now in a Hendrick machine, Martin may have finally found the trump card.
Note: No driver has ever opened a season in NASCAR's history by winning the first three races. Kenseth has a shot at becoming the first to do so, while further building bankrolls of BetUS clients who bet on NASCAR and wear Kenseth gear. Based on $100 wagers, Kenseth's online NASCAR betting investors have collected $3,000 in just two races produced by his Daytona 500 win priced at +2000 and Sunday's Auto Club 500 victory at +1000.
Oddsmakers are giving the 2003 Cup champion a very real chance of making history, having him listed at a respected +700. In nine career races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kenseth has two wins, four top-fives and five top-10 finishes. He’s also led more laps than any other driver with 438.
