The NASCAR betting circuit shifts to Loudon, New Hampshire, which in some ways is similar to a few other tracks we’ve seen this year. Here’s a look at this week’s sports betting six-pack:
Denny Hamlin won this race last year, which is why he’s again pegged as a favorite. He’s never placed outside the top 15, which is an interesting nugget if you want to play him to finish in the top 10. In similar tracks to this, Hamlin has dominated this year but just come up short. He knows how to work his brakes so he will be among the leaders this week.
Kyle Busch is an obvious pick just because he’s so hot right now. When you factor in how good he’s been here, it’s hard to pick against him. Busch has a victory and three top-10’s on this track, which is pretty solid in six career starts. He’s been cruising this year so don’t expect much a change this week.
There’s having a ‘hot hand’ in basketball, and Matt Kenseth has the car equivalent in NASCAR. He’s finished in the top 10 six straight races, which has helped him climb the standings. Kenseth has also been consistent on this track with 10 finishes in the top 10 since 2002.
Martin Truex Jr. is the only driver to finish in the top 10 twice in the two races run at Loudon last year. He finished third and fifth, which gives a good indication that he’s comfortable racing here. It’s a hometown track for Truex Jr., which is a nice bonus. He hasn’t raced so well this season but maybe this is where he turns it around.
Ryan Newman has struggled all season long but now the Sprint Cup visits a track that he likes to race at. Newman had a string of four mediocre finishes prior to his seventh-place finish last week. Hopefully he can carry some momentum to a track that he does well at. He has nine top-10 finishes in 12 starts at Loudon.
Clint Bowyer won the race here last fall, which was an uncharacteristically high finish for him, but maybe that’s an indication that he’s made an adjustment. Some people might say that he lucked into his first win there when Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kyle Busch were battling each other and Bowyer took advantage. He’s still worth a shot as a flier.
