Online NASCAR Betting – Sprint Cup Richmond

Bookmark and Share by Dave Golokhov

Let’s head to Richmond for some online betting action as the Sprint Cup visits the Richmond International Raceway this weekend. Kyle Busch took the cash last week at the Talladega Superspeedway and vaulted up to second place in the standings. Let’s take a look at this week’s six-pack:

Kyle Busch

Go Kyle, it’s your birthday. We gon’ party like it’s your birthday. Maybe we’ll sip Crown Royal instead of Bacardi, since it is the Crown Royal 400 this weekend, but how nice would it be for Kyle Busch to get back-to-back wins. Friday is his birthday and 2008 looks like his year. He turns 23-years-old today but he’s driving like he’s done this and won this before. He’s won twice this season and has five top-five showings in six starts at Richmond. There might be better track-specific picks but Busch is hot right now.

Ryan Newman

Newman – Jerry Seinfeld’s nemesis – has been pretty good this season with one win, one pole, two top-fives and four top 10s. Two of those top 10 finishes have come in his last three races. In 12 starts at Richmond, Newman has one win and seven top 10 placings.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Maybe he’s somewhat of a long shot – yes, even though he’s a big name – but Richmond was the last track that DEI recorded a victory. It has been 71 events since he last finished first and maybe a familiar victory at a familiar place will spark his taste for winning again. Overall, he has three wins at Richmond so you should be somewhat confident if you are laying your hard-earned down on him.

Kevin Harvick

Kevin Harvick is sixth in the Sprint Cup standings, which is deceiving for a guy who has zero wins, zero poles and hasn’t even finished among the top 15 in the last two races. In his last four races at Richmond, Harvick has won once, placed third once and seventh twice. He performs pretty well at this track and don’t be surprised if he gets his first victory of 2008 this weekend.

Jimmie Johnson

Maybe I’m playing favorites, but it’s hard to overlook the fact that Jimmie Johnson swept this track last year. Johnson only got his first win of the season two races ago given his recent performances in Phoenix and New Hampshire – similar tracks to Richmond – he should be near the front of the bumper cars this weekend.

Jeff Burton

Jeff Burton will be racing in his home state this weekend and if you are going to say he has home field advantage, it’s a weak one. He has won here once before but it was way back in 1998. Burton has finished worse than 12th in his last eight races and has placed sixth or higher in four of his last five. He’ll have some extra motivation and some extra wild backing this weekend. That might be enough to get it done.
