NASCAR Wagering Six-Pack - Centurion Boats at the Glen
by BetUS Staff
Online NASCAR betting enthusiasts will have the pleasure (or displeasure) of enjoying the final road course race of the season. As usual, Watkins Glen will bring about a hearty serving of road-course specialists, marked up at generous odds for BetUS customers to cash in on. But enough of the twists and turns, as you'll get plenty of those on Sunday. Let's get straight to the point and take a look at the six guys you want on your NASCAR wagering odds card this weekend!
Okay, okay. I know you've seen him in the six-pack a number of times already this season, and he's yet to come through. But trust me, if there's one week that Tony can bust out of his year-long funk, it's this one. The recently-defected driver has won four of the last six races at the Glen, and has a sparkling average finish at the track of just over sixth. 'Zippy' and the crew are masterminds when it comes to fuel management on road courses, and that should be on display once again this week. You'd be foolish not to put Stewie on your card this week.
He's learned from the master of Watkins Glen--Hamlin was employed teammate Tony Stewart's advice en route to a Sprint Cup-leading average finish of sixth at this course. One of NASCAR's rising stars, Hamlin is a serious threat every time his wheels touch a flat track, as displayed in his two Top 10s at the Glen.
If you were playing fantasy sports, this is a risky pick, because you never know what he's going to do throughout the race. However the fact remains that Robby Gordon is excellent on road courses, and will run with reckless abandon in the final stretch to get the win. Unfortunately, this sometimes results in shortage of fuel, or extreme wreckage. Nonetheless, Gordon has proven he can win at the Glen--as one of only two drivers (the other being Jeff of his namesake) to win two road course events in the same year.
Forget the struggling Juan Montoya, the one who is still trying to adapt to oval tracks in a stock car. This is the road-course monster, the dominant F-1 driver in his element at Watkins Glen. Montoya had a great sixth place run at Sonoma, but as always, he needs to calm down and refrain from running into other racers, as it doesn't always turn out positively for him. Overall, he may be the most accomplished road-racer in the pack however, so he's a good play.
Fresh off last week's win at Gilles Villeneuve, Fellows will try to carry his Nationwide success over to the Sprint Cup. The Canadian ringer has won five races on other two circuits at the Glen, so he certainly knows how to get it done. His veteran savvy will come in handy at a track where most less-experienced road-racers panic and cause accdidents. Ron just might surprise some people this week--NASCAR fans, take a shot on him!
Another hot driver, finishing second in his homeland of Montreal, Quebec last week on the Nationwide circuit. His success will be dictated by what kind of car Gillette-Evernham hands him for the weekend. He's been more active than ever (Carpentier does not run a regular race on the secondary circuit) so perhaps some momentum is all the rookie needs for his first win.
