NASCAR Six Pack - AMP Energy 500 Six-Pack
by Corey E
Restrictor plate races mean several things: 1. Cars drive slower, 2. there’s usually an enormous multi-car pile-up, and 3. there’s tremendous betting value for online sportsbook customers as a result!
Talladega promises to bring lots of drama, and this race, being as it’s part of the Chase, will be no exception. As unpredictable as races at this track can be, we’ll try to narrow it down for you. Here are our six must-haves on your BetUS card this weekend, if you’re betting on NASCAR!
Jeff Gordon
Gordon is the master of waiting out the field, hanging back and avoiding chaos and wrecks. This is exactly his type of race, which makes sense because he’s won two of three races here at Talladega. He’s a lock to contend for the checkered, with a career average finish of roughly 14th, you won’t be on the edge of your seat if you have No. 24 on your betting card—not until the home stretch, at least.
Kyle Busch
Poor Kyle. After an incredible season—arguably one of the greatest in history—Busch has been hit with a string of bad luck in the Chase that has rendered him almost completely out of contention. Nonetheless, we know that the competitive spirit burns in Mr. Busch, and he’ll be racing hard this weekend. Also, he’s won the past two plate races, so this is his type of race.
Tony Stewart
This is getting ridiculous…he has to win eventually! Tony’s aggression on the track may give him that extra push to thrive in this race. Only Jeff Gordon has a higher average finish than him at Talladega, so perhaps this is finally his week.
Jimmie Johnson
Similar to Gordon, Johnson is particularly adept at waiting out the field and making a late run. This should keep Johnson out of any wrecks this weekend, and he’ll be super motivated as he competes for another Sprint Cup title.
Kurt Busch
Kurt will be trying to make people forget about his brother and remember him—at least for one night. He’s finished in the Top 10 in seven of his last eight races, and will be driving with reckless abandon being as he’s out of the Chase.
Carl Edwards
A bit of a sleeper here, but Dodge cars have proven to have the power to earn victory in plate races. Edwards hasn’t fared well at Talladega, but did finish second in a plate race at Daytona. Give him a shot!
