With six races to go Jimmie Johnson has a 72 point lead over Carl Edwards in the race to the Sprint Cup. Johnson should garner his third NASCAR Cup in a row.
The feat is incredible considering how dominant both Edwards and Kyle Busch were during NASCAR’s regular season. For online NASCAR betting fans, Busch and Edwards were short priced favorites, and often times short priced winners, for much of the season.
Then the real Chase began and Johnson quickly took over. Jimmie Johnson and his crew have already become masters at figuring out how to use the ebbs and flows of a regular NASCAR season in order to get ready for the Chase. BetUS online sportsbook fans had better remember how well Johnson and his crew started moving upwards just right before the Chase began this year.
Who knows? Four in a row next year might not be out of the question!
But, hey, we still have some racing to do before we crown Jimmie again. So, let’s get to this weekend’s race!
Race-time: 10/11/2008 7:00 pm est.
Best Online Betting Options in the Bank of America 500
1. Jeff Gordon - - online wagering odds + 1600 - - Gordo wasn’t involved in that accident that took out a lot of good drivers last Sunday in the Amp Energy 500. He had engine trouble. It’s been hard watching Jeff and his crew self destruct this year, but he could make it all up to his fans, and online betting fans, by winning this race for the second year in a row. At 16 to 1, I’m all for it.
2. Clint Bowyer - - online wagering odds + 3500 - - Bowyer had a great run in the Amp Energy 500. If he can carry that over to this race, then the 35 to 1 will look like an online betting gift. Those online odds are just too high for me to pass up. I like Clint to continue to improve. Enough to win this? Probably not, but 35 to 1 is 35 to 1.
3. Tony Stewart - - online wagering odds + 1200 - - Did anybody expect Tony the Tiger to step up and roar last Sunday? I certainly didn’t. Okay, he got lucky, but what’s to say he doesn’t use that luck and then pick up another victory? I like Stewart again because 12 to 1 online betting odds are good on a driver like Stewart.
4. Jimmie Johnson - - online wagering odds + 250 - - The online betting odds are too low for me to put Jimmie on top, but let’s not kid ourselves. The guy is the best in NASCAR, maybe one of the best ever, and he and his crew could easily pick up the victory on Saturday night.
5. Carl Edwards - - online wagering odds + 500 - - Poor Carl just couldn’t get it together for the Chase. I really liked Carl going into the Chase but after about, oh, five minutes, I sort of saw Jimmie running away with the thing. No worries, Carl. Your day will be coming soon. The idea isn’t to win every race. It’s to build your car up, and you’re driving, so that when the Chase hits you are running on all cylinders. Johnson’s third Cup in a row should showcase that.
6. Juan Pablo Montoya - - online wagering odds + 10000 - - Okay, the chances of Juan Pablo winning this race are about…100 to 1. So, at least you’ll be getting fair online betting odds. Actually, I have to put him on this list because I just can’t believe that he doesn’t win a single race this year. I mean, you’re supposed to get better. Juan Pablo has gotten worse. What’s the deal, dude? I won’t have a lot of money on him this Saturday night. But I will have money on him!
Good Luck!
