NASCAR Betting - Chevy Rock & Roll 400 Six-Pack
by Corey E
Before online NASCAR wagering enthusiasts starts to place their bets for this weekend, they might want to tune into The Weather Network before they flip to the SPEED Network. BetUS customers would be granted the same odds in selecting the winner of the Chevy Rock n' Roll out of a hat as they would in selecting the day that this race will actually occur on. Yes, tropical storms are powerful creatures. Nonetheless, whenever the green flag is finally dropped—bet it Saturday, or next Thursday, here are the six cars to watch out for at Richmond!
The reason to wager on Kyle Busch this weekend is quite simply: Motivation. Kyle has six top five races here in just seven starts, including three runner-ups. When I say “he's on the cusp,” he literally is. Not only that, but all this momentum from his now-rival Carl Edwards must be getting to him by now. Look for Kyle to avenge his shortcomings at Richmond and finally take the checkered flag.
He's been saying all week that this is his favorite track, and understandably so. The Virginia native feels right at home here (literally), with an average finish of 10th place. In addition, he too has a bit of a sour taste in his mouth, after leading 381 laps here in May before blowing a tire and surrendering the victory to Clint Bowyer. Denny will be a hungry racer this week, so be sure to sprinkle on him.
A model of consistency, Harvick has accumulated more racer points during the past five Richmond races than anyone in the Cup Series. He's also posted five straight Top Ten finishes...in the past five weeks. Harvick is still a very safe driver, so laying juice on a victory might be risky, but if perhaps a Top Three bet would be wise.
Even though he was basically spoon-fed the victory here in May, that doesn't mean Bowyer isn't a wiz on this track. Plus, he's motivated too. Bowyer and Jeff Gordon are battling for the final spot in the Chase, and this is exactly the race he needs in order to pull away from No. 24.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Fancy that, Dale Jr. is a sleeper? Amidst all the fanfare for Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards, it's been forgotten that Junior has had a very strong season. Most people also forget that he has three victories here in Virginia. Granted, none of them have been since 2006, but a racer never forgets. A great value play here.
What better way to stick it to your old team than to ride off into 2009 with a victory? Newman will leave a rocky relationship with Penske to join his buddy Tony Stewart's team. If he's anything like Ol' Tony, he'll be spiteful and driving to show up his former teammates. Problem is...those teammates probably aren't helping him for the rest of the season. Approach with caution, but Newman traditionally runs very well here.
I pick him often because of the massive payout you'll receive if he does win. And the fact is, he's not much of an underdog—nobody has a better record on short, shallow banked courses than Martin. In 77 starts at Richmond, New Hampshire, Martinsville and Phoenix combined, Mark has an average finish of 10.4 to top the list. Why not take a shot with the wily veteran?
