NASCAR Betting Action – Coke Zero 400 Six Pack

Bookmark and Share by Dave D

Time to go back to Daytona for some NASCAR betting as the Sprint Cup Series returns for the Coke Zero 400. The good news is that the race should be more entertaining on this plate track opposed to the last couple of boring tracks at Sonoma and New Hampshire. Here is this week’s sports betting 6-Pack:

Kyle Busch

Let’s start with the obvious one: he’s hot as hell and he’s nearly won both races at Daytona this season. At the Daytona 500, he was near the front but finished fourth. At Talladega, he broke through with his first restrictor plate win. He’s been winning every week regardless, so he’s worth having almost as a safety measure in your 6-pack.

David Gilliland

David Gilliland is a restrictor plate specialist and is a (somewhat) under the radar pick. He might be better suited for a top 10 finish than a win, but he’s going to breakthrough at one of these tracks sooner rather than later. He finished 8th at Daytona after earning the pole in qualifying and finished 11th in this race last year.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.

It’s always emotional for Dale Earnhardt Jr. to return to the place where his father tragically died and that will surely be on his mind at some point this weekend. Earnhardt Jr. may only have one win this season but he’s finished near the top of the charts frequently. He has seven top five finishes and has six top five finishes at Daytona, including two wins.

Tony Stewart

Tony Stewart is a solid pick for this week considering he won here in 2005 and 2006. He also finished third at the Daytona 500 this year. Although he eventually finished 13th last week, Stewart actually had a pretty good car last week and only slipped further back when rain came down.

Jimmie Johnson

Jimmie Johnson only has one win under his belt this year but he’s worth a look this week. He has finished ninth or better in four of his last five races and the one time he finished further than ninth, he placed 15th. In the last six Daytona races, Johnson has three top 10’s. The problem is that he hasn’t finished better than 10th in the past four races at Daytona. He’s more than capable of winning it.

Denny Hamlin

This guy might be the definition of a flier. Denny Hamlin has one win and nine top 10 finishes overall this year, which is pretty solid. His solid driving has him sitting seventh in the Sprint Cup Standings with a cool $2,781,205 in earnings this year. But Hamlin doesn’t race well at Daytona. He has no wins here and has never even finished in the top 10. Maybe this week he changes that.
