MLB Pitcher vs. Pitcher Props Odds

Bookmark and Share by Eric Williams

From the jaw-dropping change-ups of Cole Hamels and Johan Santana to the fire-balling exploits of Josh Beckett and Tim Lincecum, several MLB starting pitchers are poised to produce even more memorable moments on the field in 2009.

This look at the entertaining 2009 MLB pitcher-vs.-pitcher Futures Odds will give avid BetUS MLB online betting enthusiasts a chance to ‘stay in the game’ on an everyday basis while making some entertaining season-long wagers in the BetUS Sportsbook.

With Opening Day just around the corner, let’s get busy.

Beckett vs. Hamels most wins

Josh Beckett -1½ Wins -105

Cole Hamels +1½ Wins -125

Analysis: Cole Hamels have never won more than 15 regular season games while Josh Beckett won just 12 games last season because of injuries. In the three seasons prior to 2008, Beckett recorded 20, 16, and 15 wins. I like a healthy Beckett to reach the 15-win plateau in 2009 at the very least while beating out Hamels narrowly in this futures wager.

MLB Free Pick: Beckett -1 ½

Billingsley vs. Saunders most wins

Chad Billingsley +½ Wins -115

Joe Saunders -½ Wins -115

Analysis: Billingsley recorded 16 wins last season and is quietly blossoming into one of the best starters in the game. Joe Saunders won a career-high 17 games for the Los Angeles Angels last season, but didn’t surpass eight wins in the three previous seasons.

I like Chad Billingsley here to cover this spread while helping the Dodgers challenge for the NL Pennant.

MLB Free Pick: Billingsley +½ win

Matsuzaka vs. Zambrano most wins

Daisuke Matsuzaka -½ Wins -115

Carlos Zambrano +½ Wins -115

Analysis: The fiery Zambrano has recorded double-digit win totals in six straight seasons, but clearly isn’t in the same class of hurlers as Daisuke Matsuzaka whom I like to win this wager. Zambrano won 14 games last season while Matsuzaka won 18 contests.

MLB Free Pick: Matsuzaka -½ win

Santana vs. Webb most wins

Johan Santana -1 Wins -115

Brandon Webb +1 Wins -115

Analysis: I like Arizona’s gifted Webb to win this matchup over Johan Santana who has never really looked like the totally dominating pitcher he was in the American League. Webb won 22 games compared to Santana’s 17 and I say he covers the spread here by recording at least two more wins than Santana.

MLB Free Pick: Webb +1 win
