The Texas Rangers send a 26 year old pitcher named A.J. Murray to the mound in this Saturday night online betting game between the Rangers and the Oakland Athletics. I’m not too thrilled about the prospects of A.J. Murray doing well in this game. I love the guy’s name - - can you think of a better name for a pitcher in the major leagues then A.J. Murray - - but I have a theory. Never place an online bet on a pitcher unless you can see his face. That means that if I don’t see the guy’s face anywhere on the internet, without having to search too hard, I really can’t put money on him.

Sorry, A.J. Still, it makes sense for me to go through my usual Saturday and Sunday baseball betting ritual - - creating my own online betting lines - - so that I can put this game into perspective. The Athletics do send their ace to the mound. Chad Gaudin has been terrific so far this season with a record of 3 and 1 and an ERA of 3.00. He’s a great all-around pitcher having allowed only 25 hits in 20 innings pitched. Because there is no way to determine how well Murray will pitch, the BetUS over/under, at anything close to what I have listed above, is a dead wager. There’s just now way to know if this game will end up like so many other American League games, at a ridiculously high-score, or end up like a National League game with both teams sort of spinning their wheels each inning.

In any case there is a clear online betting wager in this game. That’s on Chad Gaudin in what is sure to be plus odds at minus the 1 ½ runs.

Gaudin should dominate the Rangers no matter who takes the mound. If the Rangers do throw Murray to the wolves in this game, then forget it. The surprising Oakland Athletics dominate on the mound and in the batters’ box.

If the line is anywhere close to what I have above, and Gaudin is only giving up – 1 ½ runs at plus odds, then that’s where am I going.
