The Brewers and Cubs will lock horns in an installment of online MLB baseball betting action for the first time since the Brewers took two of three at Wrigley Field to open up each clubs’ respective ’08 seasons. We last saw the Brewers on Sunday afternoon when they lost an extra innings affair to the Florida Marlins and suffer their second series loss at Miller Park this season. They’re currently 14-11 overall and two-games in back of the Central Division leading Cubs. They’ve shown the ability to win on the road this year winning seven of their 12 overall games. The Cubs also lost their three game set over the weekend, but it came against the Washington Nationals who are tied with the Texas Rangers for the worst record in all of baseball. Chicago sports the second best record in the National League at 17-9, and they’ve done a majority of their winning within the “comfy confines” securing victories in 10 of their first 14 games played in front of “Cubs Nation”.
Righty Ben Sheets is slated to return to the rotation after missing his last turn with soreness in his right triceps. He exited a start against the Reds after five innings with the ailment, which he said began back on April 12 in New York. The Brewers are hoping he returns to form after getting off to a solid start. He’s 3-0 with a 0.96 ERA and a NL leading WHIP of 0.64. He faced the Cubs on opening day where he pitched through the sixth surrendering just two hits, no ER’s, and struck out seven Cubs while walking two. He split his four starts against the Cubs last season and sports an overall mark of 9-7 with a 3.70 ERA and 1.128 WHIP in 23 career starts against the Brewers rivals.
Jason Marquis churned out another quality start his last time out against Colorado, and it was the first time he went seven innings this season. He only allowed four hits and one earned run while striking out four and walking two. In his L/3 starts, Marquis has allowed 18 hits and five earned runs in 18 innings of work with a K/BB ratio of 13/8. Chicago won both of his starts against Milwaukee last season, home and away, where Marquis only surrendered 11 hits and two earned runs in 12 1/3rd total innings of work. In his 13 career starts against Milwaukee, he’s 4-6 with a 4.01 ERA and 1.363 WHIP.
Milwaukee opened –130 road favorites with the ‘total’ set at 8.5 over –115. You can get down on both the ‘side’ and ‘total’ at BetUS.com right now!!!
The Cubs have taken care of business within their division this season winning 11 of their 15 contests, while the Brew Crew’s played .500 ball within the NL Central at 7-7. However, Milwaukee is 4-1 their L/5 as a road favorite and 5-1 in Sheets’ L/6 as a road favorite. The Cubs have dominated right-handed pitching at home winning 7 of their L/8, but the Cubs have lost 9 of Marquis’ L/11 after a quality start in his previous outing.
