I keep expecting this online betting match-up between the BoSox and the Tigers to mean something but with the Tigers continuing to play as poorly as they have this season, and some BetUS online sportsbook baseball betting fans losing their shirts on these guys, I can’t help but think that maybe I need to revisit the whole Jim Leyland is a genius thing I’ve been writing all year. Maybe, even Jimmy can’t work with this bunch of no-heart having losers. Still, the Tigers aren’t out of it. Detroit is six games under .500 but only 3.5 games behind first place in the woeful A.L. Central Division. Those stats won’t help them tonight, however.

What might is the fact that they send Armando Galarraga to the mound. They’re going to need him tonight. First, the Tigers are on a five game losing streak. Second, they face the defending World Champions. How good has Galarraga been in a rotation that pretty much stinks? He’s 2 and 1 with a 1.88 ERA. The man’s a diamond in a pile of coal. But is he enough to warrant an online sportsbook wager?

The Boston Red Sox will counter with pitcher Clay Buchholz. Buchholz is a serviceable pitcher. He’s 2 and 2 on the season with a 3.71 ERA. Of course, the strength of the Red Sox is in their batting line-up which has produced no less then five runs in each game of their current five game win streak.

Conflicting trends lead me to believe that Galarraga may not be ready to take the mound tonight. Sure, he has a nice record and a terrific ERA, but the guy’s a rookie and is only in the Tigers’ rotation because usual starter Dontrelle Willis is hurt.

That means that Galarraga faces an uphill battle tonight against the Boston Red Sox who are about as a hot as any team in major league baseball right now. The Red Sox haven’t stepped it up with Buchholz on the mound lately, but that’s okay. The BoSox should get to Galarraga and introduce the rookie to what it means to pitch on the big stage.

Because of that I’m giving up the 1 ½ runs on Clay Buchholz and taking he and the BoSox to win this game tonight by at least three runs. That looks like a pretty good online sportsbook bet to me.
