BetUS MLB baseball betting odds: Colorado -130, San Francisco +110; Total 8.5
Two teams that seem to be going in opposite directions will tangle on Tuesday night in Denver, as the Colorado Rockies (18-27), winners of threegames in a row, play host to the San Francisco Giants (17-29), losers of six straight, in NL sports betting action that is set to get underway at 8:35 PM ET at Coors Field (natural turf).
Tim Lincecum (4-1, 1.89 ERA) of the Giants will oppose Aaron Cook (6-2, 2.82 ERA) of the Rockies in a battle of right-handed aces.
At BetUS Sportsbook, Colorado is listed as a -130 favorite (San Francisco is +110), with a total of 8.5 runs (the Under is -120, while the Over is priced at even money).
Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
* SF has lost its last six games
* SF has lost 12 of its last 15 games
* SF has played three of its last four games UNDER the total
* SF has lost its last five road games
* COL has won its last three games
* COL has lost six of its last nine games
* COL has played eight of its last ten games UNDER the total
* COL has won four of its last five home games
In the HEAD-TO-HEAD MLB betting trends:
* COL has won five of the last eight meetings
* The last five meetings have gone UNDER the total
* COL has won four of the last six meetings as the home team
Colorado won a 4-3 decision on Monday night, as Yorbit Torrealba drove in two runs and Vinny Chulk took the loss in relief. It was the sixth defeat in a row for the Giants, who are in fourth place in the NL West, a game ahead of the San Diego Padres and 12 games back of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Rockies, the defending National League champs, are a game and a half ahead of the Giants, in third place.
In the National League, the Giants rank dead last in runs per game on the road (3.1). That's probably one of the reasons they are 6-14 in road games, which is the second worst record in baseball in that role (ahead of just Atlanta).
Tim Lincecum has been one of the few bright spots for this Giant team. This little righty has made eight starts on the season, and in none of them has have given up more than three earned runs. In fact, he's only yielded as many as three runs in two of those starts. But San Francisco has lost three of the last four games in which he's toed the rubber.
Aaron Cook had by far his worst game of the season last time out, surrendering ten hits and five runs in just five innings against Arizona five days ago. In games where he has worked on four days' rest, Cook has a 1.47 ERA.
Yes, we like Lincecum an awful lot, but with Cook on the mound and the Giants unable to score runs, the -130 on Colorado looks like a bargain right now. We'll take the Rockies at that price in the BetUS Major League baseball betting odds.
JAY'S PLAY: COLORADO (-130)
