MLB Baseball Betting Picks - Milwaukee vs. St. Louis

The St. Louis Cardinals are 10 and 4 so far this season. The online sports betting community is surely surprised by this. What does that mean? It means that all is right in the N.L. Central. After all of that talk about the Cardinals not being any good this season, they’ve gone out and pretty much dominated teams. On Wednesday night they send out Adam Wainwright to continue their hot start. Wainwright is 1 and 1 so far this season with a 3.60 ERA. He’s given up 16 hits, 6 runs, and only 1 home-run in 15 innings of work.

The Brewers, who have a record of 8 and 5 so far this season, will send out Carlos Villanueva. Villanueva also has a record of 1 and 1 so far this season. He has given up 15 hits and 6 runs in 11 innings of work. Villanueva has an ERA of 4.76.

Let’s take a look at the BetUS lines.

Milwaukee Brewers

Carlos Villanueva – R + 1 ½ - 190 + 110 O 8 ½

St. Louis Cardinals

Adam Wainwright – R - 1 ½ + 160 - 130 U 8 ½

This is an incredibly difficult game to call. I don’t like the BetUS over/under at 8 ½ runs. One of the issues I have with it is discerning exactly how many runs either pitcher will give up in this game. Wainwright isn’t a shut-down pitcher but, then again, neither is Villanueva. Of course, neither pitcher is likely to give up more than three runs each. That makes the BetUS under slightly more enticing then the BetUS over.

I’m going to skip that bet altogether. I’m also going to lay off the run-line. I do think that giving up 1 ½ runs on Wainwright at + 160 is a better wager then getting 1 ½ runs on Villanueva and putting up 90 extra dollars. But it’s not that much better of a bet for me to say go with Wainwright.

Nope. Because of how the BetUS lines appear above, there’s really only one wager that makes sense in this game. That’s taking a stab on the Brew-Crew to win this one outright at + 110.

The Brewers are not far from the Cardinals in terms of talent. In fact they might have more talent then the Cardinals. That means that the Brewers could easily win this game. Villanueva is a good enough pitcher to give Milwaukee a good five to six innings. That should allow the Brewers to hopefully build a nice one or two run lead going into the final three innings of this game.

The Brewers also lost to the Cardinals on Tuesday 6 to 1. That adds something to making this wager as the Brewers will be looking to bounce back off that loss.

The BetUS MLB Betting line is Milwaukee Brewers + 110 to beat the St. Louis Cardinals straight-up.

I’m going with the Brewers to win this game.
