MLB Baseball Betting Lines - Pirates vs. Dodgers

The online sports betting community must feel like they are walking on egg shells with this MLB betting matchup. Man that was a surprise. The Los Angeles Dodgers had a one run lead going into the 9th of their Monday night game versus the Pittsburgh Pirates when, all of a sudden, their closer, Takashi Saito, gave it all up. With two outs in the top of the 9th, Saito gave up a three-run homer. That pretty much ended the game for the Dodgers who couldn’t get anything going in the bottom of the 9th. It’s hard to pick an MLB odds on favorite in this one. For the Dodgers things haven’t gone as planned as they have now lost 7 out of their last 9 games. They send Taiwanese born Hong-Chih Kuo to the mound tomorrow night. It might not matter that Kuo has been brilliant in 6 ½ innings of work so far this season. It appears that the problem with the Dodgers isn’t their starters. It’s their bull-pen.
The incredibly hot Pittsburgh Pirates send Matt Morris to the mound. Morris has been horrid so far this season. Will Morris be the one to help the Dodgers get out of their slump? Well, if his 5.25 ERA is indication then, yes, probably. Morris has also given up 19 hits, 11 total runs, and 3 home-runs in only 12 innings of work this season.
Let’s take a look at the BetUS lines.
Matt Morris – L + 1 ½ - 145 + 150 O 9
Hong-Chih Kuo – L - 1 ½ + 125 - 170 U 9
I do not, under any circumstances, expect a pitcher’s duel in this game. Kuo will pitch well in the early innings. Heck, he might last until the 6th inning, but once the Dodgers send in their bull-pen, expect runs to start coming in every few minutes.
Matt Morris for the Pirates should be good to give up at least 5 or 6 runs in this game. That means that the Dodgers bull-pen can give up 4 and we push on the BetUS over/under.
Of course, I truly believe that the Dodger bull-pen will give up more than that. Saito gave up 3 runs all on his own on Monday night. The Pirates are just hot. They’ve scored 9 runs and 6 runs in their last two games. That’s pretty good. What’s impressive is that there is absolutely no giving up in this team.
I’m not sure if they can win their fifth game in a row, but I am sure that the Pirates will get to the Dodgers for at least 4 runs on Tuesday night. If the Dodgers do their part and get 6 runs or more then the BetUS over is assured.
