There’s a reason that the Athletics were able to trade Rich Harden to the Chicago Cubs. When you send a guy like Justin Duchscherer to the mound you can be assured that things will go well. Duschscherer was almost unhittable during the first half of the 2008 MLB Season. His ERA is an astounding 1.82. The man can do no wrong in the eyes of MLB betting fans. His record of 10 and 5 is also a very good one. Simply by using Duschscherer as a key pitcher in your baseball betting wagers during the first half of the season you could have made some serious profits.

The Yankees counter Duschscherer with pitcher Joba Chamberlain. Chamberlain was used primarily as a reliever in the first half of the season. His record is 2 and 3 but his ERA is a very good 2.62. Chamberlain started only eight games during the first half of the season and there is some debate as to how effective he is as a starter.

The New York Yankees are 4 and 0 in their last 4 games at home.

The New York Yankees are 11 and 3 in their last 14 games versus a team from the American League West Division.

Duchscherer is just too tough of a pitcher for me to suggest wagering against him on the run-line. We can’t make an online wager on him either if he ends up the favorite and has to give up 1 ½ runs.

That means that we have to take a stand on either the Yankees winning this game or the Athletics winning this game. For the Athletics to win, they will have to find a way to get to Joba Chamberlain early. Once the Athletics put in their middle relief, some awful things could happen.

The Yankees’ bats are that good. But I’m willing to take a stand on the Athletics and say that they upset the Yankees at what I hope are above even money online odds on the BetUS online sportsbook money-line.
