Marlins Move Closer To NL East Lead

by BetUS Staff

The Florida Marlins, (67-65, 75-57 RL, 71-53-8 O/U) took a small step toward getting back in the National League playoff picture with Wednesday night’s commanding 4-1 win over the Atlanta Braves, (58-74, 64-68 RL, 55-73-4 O/U).

After calling yesterday’s game correctly in the BetUS Sportsbook, I am back to give BetUS MLB gamblers another winning MLB Free Pick on tonight’s series finale.

The Marlins got a spectacular performance from young pitcher Josh Johnson last night and are hoping for another strong outing from one of their young hurlers tonight in right-hander Anibal Sanchez, (2-2, 3.99 ERA).

Sanchez, who missed all of 2007 after undergoing shoulder surgery, is coming off a respectable performance in his last start as he allowed four runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings of Florida’s 5-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.

In two career starts against the Braves, Sanchez has gone 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA.

The reeling Braves, losers of eight of their last ten games overall, will counter with rookie right-hander Charlie Morton, (3-8, 6.39), who was hit hard in his last start.

Morton gave up four runs on five hits and a season-high five walks in just 1.1 innings of Atlanta’s 18-3 shellacking at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.

Here is a look at tonight’s key online baseball wagering trends followed by my analysis and MLB betting Free Picks:

The Marlins are 1-4 in Sanchez’s last five starts vs. National League East.

The Marlins are 1-5 in Sanchez’s last six road starts.

The Braves are 1-4 in Morton’s last five starts following a team loss in their previous game.

The Braves are 1-6 in Morton’s last seven starts.

The Over is 4-1 in Sanchez’s last five starts vs. a team with a losing record.

The Over is 4-1 in Morton’s last five starts following a team loss in their previous game.

The Over is 5-0-1 in the last six meetings in Atlanta.

The Marlins are 15-37 in the last 52 meetings in Atlanta.

MLB Odds

Florida Marlins -1½ +135

Anibal Sanchez R -120

Atlanta Braves +1 ½ -155

Charlie Morton –R Ev

Over 10 -105

Under 10 -115

Analysis: With the Braves on the brink of falling completely apart, I say take the Florida Marlins to pound Braves’ starter Charlie Morton into submission early, while cruising to victory in tonight’s series finale.
