White Sox take on lowly Indians
by BetUS Staff

After having its 10-game winning streak snapped by the Seattle Mariners over the weekend, the Cleveland Indians bounced back nicely behind potential Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee in last nights MLB online betting affair against the Chicago White Sox.
The Tribe pushed a run across the plate in the 2nd inning, and that’s all Lee needed as he carved the White Sox line-up up allowing just five hits through nine shutout innings. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak against the White Sox, and Chicago now holds a 9-4 series advantage with five meetings left in the regular season.
Before this past weekend, the Tribe was the best MLB wager in the league reeling MLB bettors in a shade under $1300 throughout their 10-game winning streak. The run allowed them to chew into the money they’ve cost baseball sportsbettors this season that currently finds them down upwards of $1300 on the year.
They currently sit double-digit games out of the Divisional and Wild Card races, but manager Eric Wedge and Indians brass would love nothing more than to continue playing at this level and carry that momentum into the 2009 season. Chicago’s lucky that Minnesota’s played as poorly as it has over the L/10 games (4-6), or else it could be out of the top spot in the AL Central for the first time since May.
The White Sox didn’t show much fight last night after losing two of three to the Red Sox in Boston over the weekend and because of it find themselves tied with Minnesota for first place in the AL Central. Manager Ozzie Guillen’s club has now dropped four of its L/5 road games to drop to 31-38 on the year – costing baseball bettors over $500 as a visitor on the year.
Cleveland sports a 13-12 record in Game 2 after securing a victory in the series opener, while the White Sox own a poor 6-12 mark the next game after dropping the opener.
Getting the starting nod for the Palehose for the 28th time this season will be lefty John Danks whose lost three of his last four starts after not losing for the better part of two months. He only managed to go four innings against Baltimore his last time out after getting pounded for seven hits and four runs.
His shortest start since late July at KC saw him only go four once again. He’ll hope to get back to his masterful self tonight against Cleveland on an extra days rest. He’s been nothing short of sensational on the road going 6-2 with a stingy 2.87 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, and Chicago’s won eight of his 13 overall starts.
He hasn’t figured in a decision against the Tribe this year, but he’s thrown 14 2/3rd innings and allowed just two earned runs in a pair of Chicago wins.
He’ll be opposed by right-hander Fausto Carmona who seems to have settled into a groove the latter half of August. The sinkerballer comes into tonight’s start 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA and 1.47 WHIP his L/3 starts allowing just 19 hits and six earned runs in 19 innings of work.
In six career starts against Chicago, Carmona’s 2-3 with a 5.40 ERA and 1.59 WHIP with his last start coming earlier this year when he tossed seven innings of one-run ball in Cleveland’s 7-2 home victory.
Chicago currently sits as –115 road favorites in tonight’s baseball betting affair, with the ‘total’ set at 9 under -115.
