MLB Playoff Betting - Philadelphia Phillies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
by Mike Rose

The season will be on the line Wednesday night for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who trail the Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 in the best-of-seven NLCS, and BetUS Sportsbook will have all of the action covered for MLB bettors.
The Dodgers are in this predicament courtesy of a four-run rally in the 8th inning of Game 4 that earned Philly the 7-5 victory. Both Shane Victorino and Matt Stairs blasted two run homers in that 8th inning. The Stairs dinger was only the third homer of the season surrendered by LA relief pitcher Jonathan Broxton. After Joe Blanton and Chad Durbin struggled through the first five innings, four relievers combined to shut the Dodgers out and put them squarely behind the eight-ball.
Philadelphia is now 6-2 in the playoffs, and is the best money team this postseason raking in $483 so far. The Dodgers are also still winners for their baseball bettors in the playoffs, but are only +$115 in their seven overall games. Monday’s game marked the first time in their 12 meetings this season that the road team proved victorious.
Not only are the Dodgers facing the prospect of having to win three straight games against the Phils, they must contend with their ace Cole Hamels in Game 5. The southpaw shut down LA in Game 1 of this series, going seven strong innings, only conceding two runs and striking out eight. In his two postseason outings, Hamels boasts a svelte 1.20 ERA and a WHIP of 0.73. This will only be his third career start against the Dodgers.
Though the Phillies went 19-14 in Hamels 33 starts, MLB bettors lost a shade over four units on the season. His core numbers were still phenomenal, though. Hamels set career highs in innings pitched (227.1), strikeouts (196), ERA (3.09), WHIP (1.08), and batting average against (.227).
With their last hopes of winning the World Series hanging in the balance, manager Joe Torre will hand the ball to RHP Chad Billingsley. The righty made 32 starts this season, going 16-10 with a 3.14 ERA. Much like his counterpart on Wednesday, Billingsley set career highs in several categories, including wins (16), ERA (3.14), and strikeouts (201).
Also like his counterpart, it wasn’t a stellar season for Dodgers bettors when the righty took the mound. LA went just 16-16 in his 32 starts, losing 4.21 units on the season. He was knocked around in Game 2 of this series, giving up eight runs in just two and a third innings.
Oddsmakers gave the slight nod to the hosts to stay alive in this series, but MLB bettors have pushed the Phillies to narrow -120 favorites. The ‘total’ is set at 7.5 over +100.
Consider adding the Phils to close this series out in Game 5, as they are 7-1 in their L/8 against the Dodgers. There are mixed opinions on the ‘total’ in this baseball betting match-up, as Los Angeles has played six of its eight playoff games over the ‘total’, while the Phils have played eight of their L/11 games after a win ‘under’ the ‘total’.
