MLB Baseball Wagering - Red Sox vs. Yankees

Bookmark and Share by D.S Williamson

Let’s just get rid of every other rivalry in Major League Baseball and have these two teams play each other everyday. Some baseball betting fans may get bored, but I won’t be one of them! I love watching the BoSox and the Yankees take the field against each other. In tonight’s game two old, capable warriors in Josh Beckett for Boston and Mike Mussina for New York take the mound. Beckett struggled in his first start of the season but then bounced back at home against these very same Yankees in his second start. Becket only allowed 3 runs and, more impressively, pitched the ball only 88 times in 6 and 2/3rd innings.

Mike Mussina was okay in his last start against the Red Sox, but made a bad decision by deciding to pitch to Manny Ramirez late in the game. Ramirez doubled off Mussina for the go ahead run. The Yankees never recovered. Against the Red Sox, Mussina has lost his last four starts. He has an ERA of 6.94 and has allowed six home-runs.

Let’s take a look at the BetUS MLB betting lines.

Boston Red Sox

Josh Beckett – R - 1 ½ + 125 - 135 O 9 ½

New York Yankees

Mike Mussina – R + 1 ½ - 145 + 115 U 9 ½

The respect for Josh Beckett is apparent in this game. It also leads us to the only viable wager in this game. Unless we truly believe that the Yankees can win, and I have my doubts, then the BetUS money-line on the Yankees of + 115 just isn’t good enough.

Neither is wagering on either the BetUS over or the BetUS under. At 9 ½ runs we’re sort of in that difficult position of deciding how well Beckett will pitch.

Because of that the only real wager is the run-line. It’s never a good idea to give up a run, much less a run and a half, on a pitcher on the visiting side. But this is Josh Beckett who showed in his last start, against these same Yankees, that he can be the Red Sox ace that everybody expects him to be.

Beckett appears to have solved any issues that were ailing him before the beginning of the season and in that first start.

I feel comfortable enough with Beckett to give up the run and a half to that dynamite New York Yankee line-up for above even money.

The BetUS MLB Betting line is Josh Beckett for the Boston Red Sox – 1 ½ runs + 125 versus the New York Yankees.

I’ll take my chances with Beckett in this game.
