The New York Mets are starting to play the way every MLB betting fan envisioned them playing when the season started. They have won nine games in a row and look to keep that streak going when they visit the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday night in the first of a four game sports betting series. The Mets will send their ace, Johan Santana, to the mound. Even though Santana’s record isn’t anywhere close to what Mets’ fans, and baseball betting fans in general, expected at 8 and 7, his ERA of 2.84 is plenty good enough for the Mets to win this game.

The Reds counter Santana with Johnny Cueto. Cueto is a decent pitcher with a record of 7 and 9 and an ERA of 4.67. He won’t shut the Mets down in this game but with some luck and a few strong at-bats from his teammates, Cueto could pull an online wagering upset.

But these are the New York Mets who suddenly appear as if they will be the team to challenge either the Milwaukee Brewers or the Chicago Cubs for the N.L. Pennant.
