Despite trading their best pitcher this past offseason in former staff ace Erik Bedard, the Baltimore Orioles has flourished at the start of the regular season, winning four consecutive games, including three straight over the Mariners.

After opening the season with a 6-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, the Orioles have forgotten how to lose, picking up their fourth straight victory on Sunday by beating Seattle 3-2 despite trailing 2-0 heading into the ninth inning.

Mariners Cy Young caliber starter Felix Hernandez pitched spectacular innings, limiting the Orioles to just five hits, while striking out six batters. When Hernandez didn’t come out to pitch the final inning, the Orioles took advantage.

"How happy was I? Extremely," said Orioles outfielder, Aubrey Huff. "Once he came out, I knew we had a chance."

Baltimore then touched up two different Mariners relievers as they scored three runs for the win.

Eric O'Flaherty gave up a run and left a runner on first before Mark Lowe came in and completed the blown opportunity by allowing Luis Hernandez to drive in the winning run.

"It was a great game for our team," Orioles manager Dave Trembley said.

The Orioles, who are off to their best start since 2000, come into tonight’s matchup looking for their first four-game sweep of Seattle since September 1999.

Baltimore starter Daniel Cabrera (0-0, 13.50 ERA), was rocked in his opening start against Tampa Bay last Wednesday, allowing six runs on six hits on four innings, but managed to avoid picking up a loss when the Orioles came back for a 9-6 win.

"My teammates picked me up and I'm happy for that," Cabrera the Orioles' official Web site.

Seattle starter Carlos Silva, (1-0, 1.29), was very effective in his first start, giving up one run on just three hits on Wednesday against Texas, in a 4-1 Mariners victory.

"Silva was spectacular," manager John McLaren told the Mariners' official Web site. "You can't pitch much better than that. He was fabulous."
