BetUS MLB betting odds: N.Y. Mets -115, San Francisco -105; Total 8.5
The New York Mets (28-27), who have gotten hot all of a sudden, take to the road on Monday night as they visit the Bay Area. They will take on the San Francisco Giants (24-33) in National League sports betting action that is set to begin at 10:15 PM ET at AT&T Park on San Francisco Bay (natural turf).
Southpaws take the mound against each other, as Oliver Perez of the Mets (4-3, 4.83 ERA) opposes Jonathan Sanchez (3-3, 4.26 ERA) of the Giants.
At BetUS online sportsbook, New York is listed as a -115 favorite (San Francisco is -105), with a total of 8.5 runs (the Under is -120, while the Over is even money).
Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
* NY has won five of its last six games
* NY has lost six of its last seven road games
* SF has won four of its last six games
* SF has lost seven of its last eight home games
* SF has played four of its last six home games UNDER the total
In the HEAD-TO-HEAD sports betting trends:
* NY has won four of the last five meetings
* Four of the last five meetings have gone UNDER the total
* NY has won four of the last five meetings as the road team
* Eight of the last ten meetings in San Francisco have gone UNDER the total
The Mets have played a lot better, it seems, since manager Willie Randolph came out of his meeting with management unscathed. Winners of five of six, they got a good pitching performance out of Johan Santana last night in turning back the Dodgers. But they are taking a tough trip from one coast to another, and they have not played every well on the road, compiling an 11-16 record.
Oliver Perez takes the hill for the Mets on Monday night, with New York looking forward to a start by Pedro Martinez on Tuesday. Perez has not been at his sharpest in his last two outings, giving up four runs in five innings against Colorado on May 23, and following that with a wild one against Florida five days ago, when he surrendered five runs in six innings in a 7-6 Mets win. In a totals note, six of Perez's last seven starts have gone over the total.
While the Giants have had a difficult time gathering any momentum at all this year, Jonathan Sanchez has been pitching some of his best baseball, giving up two runs apiece in each of his last three starts, all of which have gone at least six innings. Even though he doesn't have the easiest time in controlling the ball, Sanchez has done a good job of keeping San Francisco in ballgames; in fact, the record his team has when he starts (8-3) compares very favorably with the overall record (24-33).
This may be too tough a task for what promises to be a tired Mets team. Sanchez is good enough to take advantage of that. We will grab the underdog price of -105 in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.
