BetUS MLB betting odds: Cincinnati -175, Atlanta +150; Total 9

The Cincinnati Reds (25-29), who are trying their best not to become irrelevant in the National League Central division will play host to the Atlanta Braves (29-25) in an NL sports betting matchup that is set to begin at 7:10 PM ET on Friday night at the Great American Ball Park (natural turf) in Cincinnati.

Left-handed legend Tom Glavine (2-2, 4.76 ERA) is the Atlanta starter, while the Reds counter with red-hot Edinson Volquez (7-1, 1,34 ERA).

At BetUS online sportsbook, Cincinnati is listed as a -175 favorite (Atlanta is +150), with a total of nine runs (the Over is -120, while the Under is even money).

Here are some of the MLB Baseball betting trends as they relate to this sportsbook wagering matchup:

* ATL has won eight of its last 12 games

* ATL has played 17 of its last 24 games UNDER the total

* ATL has lost 11 of its last 14 road games

* ATL has played five of its last six games UNDER the total

* CIN has won four of its last six games

* CIN has played four of its last five games OVER the total

* CIN has won nine of its last ten home games

In the HEAD-TO-HEAD sports betting trends:

* ATL has won the last three meetings

* CIN has won five of the last seven meetings as the home team

* Ten of the last 12 meetings have gone OVER the total

* Five of the last six games in Cincinnati have gone OVER the total

Atlanta is just coming from Milwaukee, where it has lost two of three games. But they left town after an 8-1 victory, behind four RBI's from Mark Teixeira, thus avoiding the sweep. The Braves have played their last three games under the total.

Tom Glavine had a tough time the last time he faced the Reds, giving up six runs in 4-2/3 innings on May 4. He did the exact same thing against the D-Backs in his last start. The 42-year-old two-time Cy Young winner started out strongly, giving up one total run in his first two starts. Since then, however, he's been up-and-down.

No such situation exists for Edinson Volquez, the Reds' right-hander who is not only headed to the All-Star game, but making a strong bid to become a Cy Young winner himself. Volquez has been the model of consistency; in ten starts this season, he has surrendered as many as two runs only ONCE. That is amazing. Last time out he struck out 12 in six innings while giving up just a run and two hits against San Diego. In 60-1/3 innings, he's given up just 41 hits.

To compound things, we have trends that show the Reds having won nine of the last ten at home, while Atlanta is one of the worst teams in baseball when traveling, putting together a 7-18 mark.

Under the circumstances, we see no other play here except the Reds, at -175 in the BetUS Major League Baseball betting odds.
