MLB Baseball Betting Action – Interleague Weekender

Bookmark and Share by Eric Williams

Instead of the usual Saturday American League doubleheader of Free Picks that the BetUS MLB Betting Community is usually treated to today, Major League Baseball bettors will, instead, get the low-down on two thrilling Interleague matchups taking place this weekend in American League ballparks featuring some of the best MLB Odds in the BetUS Sportsbook for today’s respective matchups.

With the opening weekend for the annual occurrence that is now known as Interleague play, getting underway in ballparks all over the country, let’s get down to business.

New York Mets at New York Yankees

Mets’ starter Oliver Perez is 3-3 in eight starts covering 41.0 innings with 37 strikeouts, 27 walks and four home runs allowed by a 4.61 ERA.

Yankees’ starter Andy Pettitte is 3-4 in eight starts covering 47.0 innings with 31 strikeouts, 14 walks and six home runs allowed by a 4.40 ERA.

Analysis: I like the Yankees to win this contest with Andy Pettitte bouncing back from a poor start in his last outing and the Yankees lineup putting up just enough runs off Mets’ starter Oliver Perez.

MLB Free Picks: Yankees 5 Mets 3

Milwaukee Brewers at Boston Red Sox

Brewers’ starter Dave Bush is 1-4 in six starts and one relief appearance covering 35.2 innings with 21 strikeouts, 16 walks and seven home runs allowed by a 6.06 ERA.

Red Sox’ starter Tim Wakefield is 3-2 in eight starts covering 48.2 innings with 27 strikeouts, 23 walks and six home runs allowed by a 4.25 ERA.

Analysis: The Red Sox are going to pound Dave Bush like he’s a ‘Bush-league’ pitcher, pardon the pun. Take the Red Sox to win this game going away.

MLB Free Picks: Red Sox 8 Brewers 5

Los Angeles Dodgers at Los Angeles Angels

Dodgers’ starter Chan Ho Park is 1-0 in 12 relief appearances covering 25.0 innings with nine strikeouts, ten walks and four home runs allowed by a respectable ERA of 2.16.

Angels’ starter Ervin Santana is 6-0 in eight starts covering 54.2 innings with 45 strikeouts, ten walks and three home runs while posting a decent 2.63 ERA.

Analysis: While Chan Ho Park was a fine starter in his day, just a few years back, Park isn’t anything special to write home about these days, though he is still very competent on the mound. However, he is not in the same class of starters as the Angels’ Ervin Santana, who should lead his team to victory in this matchup.

MLB Free Picks: Angels 6 Dodgers 3

Houston Astros at Texas Rangers

Astros’ starter Roy Oswalt is 4-3 in nine starts covering 57.0 innings with 48 strikeouts, 15 walks and 12 home runs allowed by an ERA of 5.05.

Rangers’ starter Vicente Padilla is 5-2 in nine starts covering 55.2 innings with 35 strikeouts, 19 walks and seven home runs allowed by a respectable ERA of 3.23.

Analysis: Each team will trot out its best starter so far this season in this contest, which should be electric to say the least. I don’t write this much because of his penchant for tossing gopher balls, but the Rangers are the right pick here as starter Vicente Padilla has been ‘locked in’ since the start of the 2008 regular season. I guess that long talk new Rangers team president Nolan Ryan had with the fire-balling Padilla really got through because Padilla now looks like he actually has a clue how to pitch instead of just hurling 95-mph fastballs down the middle of the plate.

MLB Free Picks: Rangers 4 Astros 3
